My dh and I just got a Jeep Wrangler for some fun this summer. Well, anytime we go somewhere other Jeep Wrangler drivers wave to us
I mean this is totally fine, we'll wave right back, I just think its funny...I also have a Kia Sedona minivan and don't get waved at by other Kia Sedona drivers at all! :rotfl2: So, just wondering if there is some secret Jeep Wrangler Society and if so, do you have to wave to so many to get in the club or do they just accept you as you are? :teeth:
 I'm hoping i'm not the only one this happens to, lol. Any other Wrangler owners that go through the same thing?

I don't own a wrangler, but we do have a PT Cruiser. This happens to us all the time too!! It threw me for a loop the first few times it happened. I kept asking DH "do you know that person?" :rotfl:

Fellow Chrysler Town and Country drivers don't wave to me...but the PT Cruisers do!! :)

yep. i've had one for years. There's a pecking order on who waves first depending on the ruggedness/coolness of your jeep too.
When I sold the Jeep and bought a mustang I thought I should wave to other mustang drivers but they would laugh at me.

hmmm, ours isn't that "cool". No lift kit in it (to dh's dismay--told him I didn't want to use a ladder to get in)

It's common with a lot of cars.
When I meet an oncoming Mercury Marquis driver, we wave tool boxes at each other.

we have never had a cool car, but one time a friend of DHs needed a bigger car for awhile so we traded. My mini van for his Vette. Everytime I passed another Vette, they would always wave. Heck, everyone waved at me that week!!! It was fun to be cool for a short time!!

Actually with Jeeps there is an actual Jeep club thing.
You can go to Jeep Jamborees and stuff like that.
Jeep Jamborees

It's a whole different world with a Jeep.
Plus have you seen the "It's a Jeep thing you wouldn't understand" stickers?

a good friend of mine has a jeep,i'm in it quite a bit,it is a jeep thing, the way to wave is just lift your fingers not your hand off the wheel no eye contact is needed :)

My DH has a Wrangler and most "Jeep" people seem to wave at one another. We've also been in the parking lot at concerts and have been parked by other Jeep people who like to come and check out the vehicle and chat with DH about it. He's done some stuff to modify his, and this seems to be "fun" for them to discuss.

Yep, it's definitely a Jeep thing! On occasion, I drive DH's Jeep Wrangler. I try to play off the wave like I'm cool and used to it :wave2: - little do the other drivers realize how silly I feel! The funny thing is when DH forgets he is NOT in his Jeep and waves to other Jeepers. I'm sure that throws them for a loop!

When I was growing up, my parents owned a Vette. They did the same thing.

YEP! We were in the Wrangler club for a few years too! We loved our Wrangler. It was so much fun! But, then we had to be practical and buy boring cars. :sad2:

DS will get his temps in about 5 months and DH is talking about buying him a Wranger - so he can drive it too! I'm thinking a teenage boy needs something a little safer than that. Or at least that doesn't have as much POTENTIAL for issues! We'll see who wins!

My father loved Fords for the longest time
last one he had he changed the engine every 3,000 miles or 3 months..... no oil change
needed here.
true story and a family joke... 3 engines one year......
He finally followd me when I bought a Honda accord sorry ford
But I do now own two cars one is American... I keep the Honda for when it breaks down :lmao:

I have an older Jeep Cherokee and every once in a while I get honks or waves.

Now I know that the honks and waves aren't because I am well, not 20 years old... :rolleyes1

My DHs former friend had a Wrangler and it was waving all the time when they were out and about.

we used to belong to the "saturn cult". the dealerships facilitate it by giving out t-shirts to you when you buy, having weekly bbq's you're welcome to come to-and if you are female and bring your car in for any type of servicing-they leave a rose or carnation on your dash.

i have to say though-they are the only car manuafacturer that i've delt with that had a policy wherein if your car needed repair you could call up corporate and see if an error trend had been detected with the problem and if so get all of the cost or at least the labor free (this was after the warranty ended). they were also the only company that ever gave dh and i a dinner on them at one of the local nicer restaurants because of the 'inconvenience' of having to bring the car in for a re-call check.

i just bought a new ford escape-wonder if there's a secret society of them too?

I couldn't get your link to work, but that is cool!

I disagree with a previous poster-Mustangs are definitely like this, too. There is absolutely a pecking order over who waves first.

There is absolutely a Jeep thing. DH has a tricked out Rubicon. I am so uncomfortable driving it because of all the looks and waves. Often a crowd of guys will gather around it when we park it in a lot. It cracks me up because the lot can be full of really nice (and expensive) cars, but the Jeep draws the attention. :confused3
