I agree, Brandi. Both these were very good, and I liked DaVinci Code as well.

LOVE Susan Wiggs!!! have many of her paperbacks - hope to find some free for my Kindle (or less expensive anyway)

Something about his books grab me from the first few pages, I hate when you don't get interested until about half way through, his are just so captivating.... And since it is on my Kindle, I can pick and read almost anywhere, which I love

I agree completely, Brandi. I'm not sure I agree with some of his political leanings, etc, but he writes a great story, and I'm just reading books, not looking for politics anyway!

I started allergy shots today.. And the best part is not only do I get to get one shot but i'm lucky enough to get 2 :scared1:

T,
I know it does not help right now but if will her better. I am allergic to everything but it did not happen until I was 30. I did the shots 2 in each arm twice a week for a year. Then once a week for 6 months then 1 shot each arm 1 time a week. then every other for months and finally after 3 years i am shot free. It does get better. hugs.

I wasn't thrilled with the Davinci Code, partly because I figured out something fairly early in the book, and a character in the book, who was an expert in that field, didn't figure it out until much later.
My kids had a big writing test today. It's exhausting trying to get these babies to write complete sentences, with capitalization, spacing and punctuation. At least nobody cried. I was very brave like that.:upsidedow

Kindergarten? Really? Wow! You were brave to not cry!!!!

So anyone else find it strange that T would usr this guy :scared1: in the same sentence with shots?:rolleyes1

Glad nobody cried.

I have a degree in math. I know I am a big nerd.

My dd (29) was having a very tough time with algebra in high-school; we sat at the kitchen table for 3 months. She cried everyday, I tried every learning trick I knew, then we both would cry. One day she looked up at me and said proudly " I know the answer" and she did. It just clicked. She understood. I was proud of her and she was of herself too.

It was one of my hardest parenting moments.

Can I send Krista to you for the summer? We are still battling with that, though she is better. At least we don't have to learn cursive! She puts all her caps & lower case on the same line space. She does write neatly, but I am still spelling almost everything over 4 letters for her. And she starts middle school next year!:scared1:

She does read better than Jeff though. They don't think she has the visual processing error, but she is definitly an oral learner!

HAPPY Birthday to TOT also!

And T, loved you diner from the other night. I want a chocolate cherry love blizzard so bad!! But I am losing weight and don't want to mess it up.

Oh, and I saw on the Budget board that Southwest had brought their fares down for mid-August. Not sure how much or anything, just passing on that word!

Oh, and Bradi, I did like that picture.

And everytime one of us logs on to post or read, it adds a view. So may be some stalkers, but may be us just looking for some new things to comment on!

So we got back Meagan's standardized testing results, and her composite says she is at 5th grade 6th month level, pretty strange since her 7th grade grades show her on the bronze honor roll, I think.

That's the thing about standardized testing. It's a snapshot of one week, so kids may not be doing their best work that week. Also, some students are great at learning and doing regular school work, but don't have great test-taking skills. And don't even get me started on poorly written questions that do not assess what they purport to assess! (Can you tell I have some strong opinions on this?:headache:)

Wow and I thought I had it bad. Brandi I did this from the age of 8 to the age of 17 and now i'm at it again. :rotfl: I was told since it came back for me I may have it the rest of my life. :confused3

I will be calling you next year when we move up in algebra. This year was a rough one for us.. I can't do algebra to save me. After hours and hours of me having to learn it all over again it finally clicked again for me and I could help Anthony but man let me tell you I am passing the buck for next year... So glad we are friends :teeth: I HATE MATH (Oh and i'm sure LizzY will be glad you know math. I think I :scared1: her I was so hopeless :rotfl: )

Have a good day everyone!! :teeth:

I so wish you lived closer....I would be begging you to tutor my DD, Alyssa....she's always been good at math...but with the 'restructuring' going on at the school....she's had substitutes...and now has a teacher that she has issues with. And I cannot remember ever learning about polonomials....or whatever they are called.

I used to know algebra..... I used to actually be good at it too. :headache:

Sigh..... well, at least we figured if she fails this last marking period.... she did well enough the rest of the year that she will still end up with a high C or low B

Happy Thursday...I think I'll be dipping some beads today. :)

Happy belated birthday ToT!!!!! :)
