She definitely should have consulted the family before making reservations. If this was my sister that I'm closest to (and we have had some challenges lately relating to my mom's death), I would right out ask her, "Have I done something to upset you?" I don't know what else to recommend.

I really have no idea what to say about this. I don't have that kind of family dynamic, I feel for you and can only offer a hug and pray for enlightenment.

My brother thinks she feels left out by the fact that she is seperated from the rest of us logistically, so is battling for extra attention. That's likely part of it anyway.

I just keep reassuring him that we will be ok. We have some savings and can make it a little while on my salary and the savings, so i want him to look for something that will make him happy!

How did Mother's day go?

I am pouting a little b/c it is taking him in the opposite direction from me

Right now we commute together for almost 2 hours in each direction, and now we will no longer be able to do that. So I am sad about that but I am very happy he has job....

I think he will enjoy the job and I know he can do it perfectly, which is good news. He is getting paid the same as before so that is good too, no decrease is always good!

PD, Mother's Day went okay, in large part because I refused to engage and threatened Rick if he started anything. We have briefly discussed since that we weren't trying to be a pain, we just felt like family events ought to be planned as a family. She says she gets that, but feels like she isn't included in the decisions since she isn't here. But then she put an offer on a house this past week which will put her even farther away from everyone, 20 minutes from Cocoa Beach. So we are of the opinion that she is choosing to seperate, and we can't make her do otherwise, we will invite her to participate with anything we do for holidays, etc, but that's all we can do. I am saddened by that, but I just don't really see a choice for the rest of us here. On a positive note, our lease is getting ready to be up in July, so we have been looking to see if we could get closer to where my folks and my brother's family are (in LandoLakes, we are currently in New Port Richey), and yesterday my sister in law sent me details on a house in their addition coming up for rent in August for $50 more a month than we are paying now, would put us 1 minute drive from my parents (or 10 minutes walk), about 3 minutes from my brother by car, give the kids access to a commuity pool literally right across the street, as well as the main community pool about 20 minutes walk (3 minutes drive). It is still 3 bed, 2 bath, 2 car garage, which is fine by me, that's as big as we need anyway, its actually about 300 sq ft bigger than where we are renting now and the community amenities plus the proximity to my family is awesome. I talked with the landlord yesterday evening, and she was very positive.

Glad Mother's Day went ok. The "new" house sounds cool...access to 2 pools will be sweet!

Sounds like it might not be such a bad thing to have a little distance between you and your Sister....maybe that will help a little in the long run??? Good luck!

Maybe your sister moving further away will make it easier for your parents to say no to everyone traveling to do things at her house, and it definitely gives you a better excuse to say no even if everyone else is going!

The new house does sound like a good deal. 2 pools!!!!! Hooray!!!! Will it add much on to the commutes for you and Rick? Will the girls be in the same school? Hope it all works out!

Yes, I am kinda taking the absence makes the heart grow fonder thing with my sister, I guess we'll see how that goes.

We are very excited about the house, it is actually about 15 minutes closer for me to go to work, it is about 10 minutes maybe farther for Rick, BUT he can put the county truck at the Land O Lakes treatment plant at night and just drive his truck there in the morning, which is 5 miles from the house, so closer as far as gas mileage is concerned, and then will drive the county vehicle the rest of the way in. The school situation is the one potential issue, as Catie is NOT thrilled with switching schools. Meag will be changing from middle to high school and doesn't seem as bothered by it, is happy that she would have a bus to school instead of walking like they do now. But Catie absolutely HATES the idea of switching schools again. It is the same district, but not the same school. She didn't like the thought of leaving her school in Iowa either, when we moved to florida, and she did really well making friends here, so I am sure she will have no trouble, and she is still only about 15-20 minutes from her friends from this year, so she could still get together with them. So I am sure she would settle in, ya know? She isn't big on change, and I don't blame her, she's had a LOT of change in the past year. Most of it has been positive, but it is still hard for her.

Hi Peeps!!! I have some very good news! As you can see from my signature, my dreams have come true! I always wanted to spend my 40th Birthday doing something Disney related, and we will be on a 4 nt cruise on the Dream!! I am BEYOND over the moon! We are actually going A little before my birthday, as it falls over President's weekend, and the prices were muchg higher. Now to wait for Southwest and Air Tran to release airfare!
