"Secret" Deck 7

I'm a first-time cruise in August and have read a number of trip reports mentioning the "secret" public deck on 7. In reading the PassPorter guide, though, the authors make no mention that it is secret and recommend all cruisers find this deck out and deck 8 as well; even the Disney deck plans indicate that there is a public deck on 7 and 8. I was just curious what, if anything, makes it "secret," and if deck 8 is worth seeking out as well. Thanks.

I think the thing that makes it "secret" is that it is so underused.

We were on that deck about four times last cruise, and only saw other people on it once.

And they turned out to be Dis-ers!

It's not so convenient, so you really have to want to go there.

I also think that it started out being called the secret deck a few years ago when posts first started being made about it. By now everyone on the boards knows about it so it isn't really a secret anymore.

there is an abundance of chairs on the deck 7 overlook...it is hardly private though, as onlookers from deck 9 aft can easily see you....

how do you get there-does the deck wrap around or is there a special entrance way?

You need to walk all the way aft on Deck 7 and there will be a door to enter....it is closed though from about 11:00pm to about 6:00 am

The "secret deck" isn't so secret anymore

Our first cruise we spent some time out there and it was very enjoyable as it was so quiet.

Our last cruise many, many people came out "just to look". The door was slamming all the time. And many brought their little kids out there so there was no quiet either. Some, like us, were on loungers trying to read or nap, but it was impossible because of so many coming out just to look for a minute or two, and the kids hollering.
