Okay, I just looked at the Wilderness Lodge and to stay there is only about $400 more than where we are currently booked. (Port Orleans French Quarter) I really wanted to stay at the Wilderness lodge but my fiance (ever the pragmatist) pointed out that we really aren't going to be staying on the resort that much...we are going to be in the parks...which is true and we can use that $400 on all sorts of other things...oh but I really love the WL...*sigh* Someone please tell me that POFQ is a good choice...I mean I know it is...I've heard all sorts of great things about it...it's smaller and quiet and great for honeymooners...I'm just having that "deprived" childhood thing where I just don't want to miss out on anything!!!

has anyone else had cold feet about their resort of choice? I'm such a dork!

don't worry...you've heard so many nice things about POFQ....it will make your hunny feel better if he feels like he is "saving" money somewhere...you'll have a blast one way or another!!!! :wizard: princess: :groom: :bride:

just relax and have fun!
love always,
your inner voice...

Honestly, if you ARE planning on spending most of your time at the parks, I think that POFQ will be perfect and you will enjoy it. It is quiet and nice. Maybe you can even go back early one night and do their carriage ride. (I think they still do those.)

I've gotten to go to WDW quite a bit living 3 hours from it. We typically stay at a value resort and we're usually hardly there long enough to notice. I think the deluxe resorts are only REALLY worth it if you plan to spend a significant amount of time there. Or if you just have money to burn. I've stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge a couple times, that's where my fiance proposed to me actually, but each time I've stayed there, we've spent more time at the resort just relaxing and watching the animals than we have going to the parks.

Maybe make a compromise. Stay at POFQ then go over to lunch or dinner at the WL, take a stroll around for a while then head back on out for some good old Disney theme park fun. :)

Don't worry or stress TOO much, the POFQ is really nice. It is the smallest of the mods and has a really relaxing "New Orleans" feel. The food court is great, and the whole property is just beautiful. Not to mention, that wonderfully romantic horse-drawn carriage ride......

Hope this helps!!

Thanks all for the advice and info...I think we made the right choice with POFQ...I'm already planning our one year anniversary and that's when we'll do the Wilderness Lodge!!! :wizard: princess:

I just wish it would get here already...and there just doesn't seem to be enough time!!! ;)

Just to make you feel better, I have stayed at WL and at POFQ. Quite honestly in my mind there is no comparison. I LOVE POFQ. (Maybe b/c it reminds me of Louisiana). I like the intimate feel of the resort and the themeing. WL is nice, don't get me wrong, but you really are going to love the FQ. Make sure you go over to the Riverside main building at night and catch the cool show they have there...I forgot his name. I just love the FQ and really can't say enough things about them!

I, too, would pick Port Orleans - French Quarter over the Wilderness Lodge hands down. I have stayed in 20 of the on-site resorts so far. Port Orleans - French Quarter is one of my all-time favorites. The grounds are gorgeous, especially at night (it is very romantic at night). You could arrange for a carriage ride at Port Orleans with some of that money that you will be saving. The carriage rides are definitely very romantic.

Congratulations on your upcoming marriage.

I really do LOVE Wilderness Lodge and have stayed there a few times but in all honesty if you're not planning on spending a lot of time at the parks then POFQ will be fine and you could use that $400 on lots of souveniers or other fun stuff instead. I've never stayed at either the PO resorts but I visit a lot for some of the reasons that the others have said.

I agree with Janet - Bob Jackson is a hoot and you don't get that sort of entertainment at Wilderness Lodge or the carriage rides.

I'll be sure to catch the show at Riverside!!! Thanks!!! I'm really getting excited for our honeymoon...in the beginning stages of planning, the honeymoon seems so far off, and sometimes you get bogged down in the planning and picking invitations and agonizing over how much those invitations cost (my recent issue! I was SHOCKED!) So it's so great to be talking about the really fun part of all of this...the hanging out together in a wonderful place and not having to worry if your uncle Ted really IS going to try and beat up your dad at the reception like he told my mom he wanted to! :rotfl2: my family can be SO redneck at times!

Everybody was giving me grief over going to WDW for our honeymoon, I'm so glad to that there are tons of other like minded brides who make Disney a lifestyle choice!!! :wizard: princess:

thanks again for all the wonderful words of advice!!!

Last year, my fiance and I went on our 1st trip to WDW together. He wanted to stay at WL and I wanted to stay at the Beach Club. After all the comparisons and a few fights, we decided to compromise. We stayed 3 nights at WL and 3 nights at BC. I called the BC the day before we started our stay there and asked if we could check in early, and they said it was not a problem. We were able to check into BC as soon as we checked out of WL. Don't know if you wanted to split up your trip like this, but it was hassle-free and it worked out well! Good luck!
