Second Seating for dinner? Really Bad?

It really depends how much your kids want to participate in the club activities. The club schedule is based around the kids eating at 6pm. We had late dining on one of our cruises and I was always leaving in the middle to get DD to a special event - like Goofy's PJ party on time.

That being said. Definitely don't stress about it! If the kids want to do the activities, you can always feed them early. There are lots of choices! And the bonus is that way you can have a leisurely dinner in the dining room, while they are happy with their own actitivites. DD and I cruise a lot and we've found we prefer to grab a quick bite rather than spend all that time in the dining rooms onboard.

There are so many different options, that I'm sure you'll find the plan that works best for your family. Have a wonderful cruise!!

We have kids (then 4 & 10) and the early sitting was the WORST thing about the entire cruise !!!

Breakfast, lunch & dinner were so close together felt we never stopped eating or getting ready to eat....Having lunch & dinner so close it never gave ourselves any time to get an appetite, so we did not appreciate the quality of the food ...and the kids wouldn't eat dinner at all because they were just not hungry ! It seemed we never got any length of time to kick back and enjoy the boat/shore activities ...too busy looking at our watches.

It was a disaster !...we even started to take a light room service breakfast in our room in a bid to free up more time (and space in our stomachs !).

Early dining ?.....NO THANK YOU NEVER AGAIN !!!!!!!!

I have a 2 year old and 5 year old, we are going on our 6th Disney cruise next week. We have always been stuck with late seating except for our last cruise, in which by some miracle we had 5:30. What a difference that made! Late seating does not work for our kids. It is too late for them. We would tell our servers to bring their food as soon as possible, then my husband and I would take turns being the one to leave with them as soon as they were finished eating. Your servers will work with you, though, they would even send up my dinner to my room so I could eat after I'd put the kids to bed. There is food everywhere on the ship so you will definitely not go hungry!

Yet another 2nd seating fan! I could easily repeat everything else that's been said.....no rushing, getting in the early shows, as well as being too full for deck parties. By no means will your kids be "starving".....if they are in the clubs they will be offered dinner fairly early. Kids being kids.....it's not like they stuff themselves. They can still go to dinner with you later. We normally eat around 5:30ish ourselves. At about 5, we would normally grab a piece of pizza. There were also small snack wraps and panini's....you can also just grab a chicken tender or two or a small bag of chips. There is lots of fruit around as well. Having something small never ruined my appetite for dinner. There is never a reason for anyone to starve on board....and you can keep it healthy for 7 days.
