Second Honeymoon-WL vs. Value-I need Romance!!!

After realizing that DH and I haven't been out as a couple for almost a year we decided to go on a trip by ourselves. We spent 7 nights at the WL in May with our kids and loved the resort-that was the 1st time we stayed on site. I'm trying not to drain our savings with this trip and wanted to do the Fairytale Vacation Pkg. WL would cost over $500 more than the Value resorts and $300 more than a Moderate. My biggest concern about the Value resorts is that I've heard they're noisy. I don't mind less amenities, but I want this vacation to be romantic and a bunch of screaming children all hours of the day and night isn't a mood setter (heck I can stay home and get that for free-LOL!). Should I spend the extra $$ and go for the Moderate or am I going to be dissapointed by anything other than a Deluxe? Help please !!!

I prefer the deluxe resort because I like to hide from the kids out on the balcony. Without kids I would love to try Coronado Springs. We've gone there several times to eat and walk around. It looks very nice!

If it were me, and I wanted romance I would not stay at a value resort..I am going by myself and staying at the ASMU, but I would go for a moderate or the WL or AKL if it is in your budget. The WL and the AKL have the lowest prices of the deluxe resorts. The AKL seems like a nice romantic resort, especially since you have already stayed at the WL

don't stay at a value if you want romance. WL is very romantic - and for a deluxe it's on the low-end of the pricing scale. I say go for it - nothing is more important than your marriage!

As for staying in a value or moderate.....................

After having had your first on-site experience being the WL a value resort may leave you a little disappointed unless you go to the resort with an open mind, expecting it to be different. A moderate would provide less of a difference, but it is still hard to go from a deluxe to something less without noticing that something is different. Not that the value and moderate resorts aren't great, especially for what they offer, they are just hard to compare to the deluxe resorts.

As for romance.....................................

Staying in WDW can provide for the most romantic vacation for a lot of reasons. It is the number one honeymoon destination afterall. That being said, having stayed at a value resort it is hard for me to put romance in the same sentence. The value resorts are neat, and give you a nice onsite experience for a relatively low cost. However, there isn't much romantic about the resorts themselves. A moderate would be a step up. The rooms are nicer, the resort grounds provide a nice opportunity to go for romantic strolls at dusk, and there will be a sit down restaurant to have a nice dinner in. I would recommend POR Riverside, as I think this is one of the best themed, and most romantic, moderates. I think they even have horse drawn carriage rides now - that would be pretty romantic.

As for my recommendation...............................

I'd spend the extra $$$ to stay at the WL if you can swing it. If $300 is a make or break issue, go with a moderate (POR Riverside). For this trip, forget a value unless it is the only way you can afford the trip.

We just got back from our 2nd Honeymoon at WL on Monday. I whole-heartedly endorse that resort. But, I don't think POR would be a disappointing location either. However, I wouldn't recommend going from one end of the resort spectrum to the other for this special ocassion if you can swing it.

We've stayed at POFQ and CBR without kids. (We didn't have any kids until January. Now we have a 5 month old and a 17 year old. We're very efficient. ) While a deluxe is nicer in some ways, I think a moderate would be fine if the money is important to you. The great thing about the moderates is that you can get a king size bed. That is so much nicer than having 2 smaller beds. I've never stayed at WL, but I *think* that they only have rooms with 2 queens (or a queen and 2 bunk beds, which you really don't need).

We have stayed often at Values with family and friends. When we need alone time we stay in at least a moderate. Since you don't get away alone too often I'd say this----staying in a Value--- savings of $500. Romantic, alone time strolling the grounds at the Wilderness Lodge---priceless. Either way have a wonderful trip!

We've stayed at the All Star Movies twice now, once in Love Bug and once in 101 Dalmations; both times our room was VERY QUIET! We never heard our neighbors!

That being said, when my husband and I go for our 25th Anniversary in two more years, we'll be staying at the Wilderness Lodge. Its such a beautiful hotel! (He doesn't know we'll be staying at the Wilderness Lodge - he doesn't even know that we're going to Disney; but we are!)

We're a family of five so we haven't been able to stay at the Lodge yet. We have stayed at the deluxes, moderates, and values - its possible to go value once you've stayed deluxe! Good luck deciding!!!!!

For romance, any of the mods would be great!!!! AKL would be my first choice, however. It's a beautiful resort with GREAT transporation!

Dh and Itook an overngith trip forour anniversary. We stayed at CSR and did not do any parks. We had such a great time there and then had dinner at Ohana. We watched the castle change colors and thefirwoks.We went back to CSR and lay in the hammocks. Very nice walk around the lake, too! If money truly is an issue, do the ASMu (more adult thme) and ask for a quiet building in the back. DH and I plan to do our 9th anniversary trip at Pop Century!
