Second guessing cabin choice...

I'm taking my parents on a 4-night cruise on the Magic over Presidents' Week.

We're currently in 2002 and 2004 - none of us get motion sickness, and they stayed on Deck 2 on their latest Fantasy cruise and enjoyed it.

I've looked at the reports and they look good - just curious if anyone's stayed in these cabins and had thoughts? Good choice? As of now I could move my cabin (2002) back to 2006 if that's better...

OR...

There are some on Deck 5 (5010-5014 or 5508-5510) - but the kids' club being on Deck 5 kind of scares me with the noise possibility.

Or Deck 6 (6008-6012 or 6510-6514).

Each of those bump the price up about $300/cabin.

Anyone who's stayed in each of those general locations - or Deck 2 and Deck 5 or 6 - have thoughts?

I'm pretty sure I remember reading positive posts about Deck 2 forward - I'm just starting to second guess myself. (The big second guessing was taken out when all the verandah cabins I'd been pondering initially sold out. Not all the veranda cabins are sold out...just the ones I'd been looking at. And we aren't a "MUST HAVE VERANDA" cruisers, so OV is fine.)

Thanks.

I haven't stayed in the ones you're looking at, but I am booked in 2004 on the Wonder in January. Since it's the same on the Magic, I assume the positive reports I've read for that room hold true for both. I understand that 2004 is a touch larger than other rooms that category due to the curvature of the ship.

Happy cruising!

Friends were on the starboard side in 2502(which would mirror your 2002) and that is a slightly bigger room due to the bow of the ship. They had enough space to put the coffee table at the end of the couch, next to the window, making the room seem huge. The porthole in that room is small, but there is a ledge where you can sit next to the window. They did not complain of any disturbing noises and it is, in fact, their preferred cabin when they cruise.

I was on the Wonder in 5010. Large porthole, but no seat. I didn't have any problem with the kids' clubs, but there is a lot of crew activity in that hallway. Didn't bother me, but there were a lot of crew passing me in the hallway. Someone mentioned that it is the hallway to the crew smoking area, but I didn't smell any evidence of that.

I think you will enjoy the location. It's nice to be close to forward elevators and adult areas.

We stayed on Deck 6 (6550) on the Magic and Deck 2 (2050) on the Wonder and we loved them both for different reasons. To be honest, we actually loved staying on Deck 2. So unless I was going for a verandah for a like for like room (say, oceanview) for the price, I'm very happy paying less on deck 2. It's so convenient to all the restaurants and to the theatre. At the end of dinner or the shows, we loved not waiting for an elevator and just being able to nip down one flight of stairs. Same with embarking and disembarking. So easy!

I also really found I loved being close to the water. It was really fun to look out and see the water right there. I love deck 2!

Thank you! That helps a lot. Yes...I have an idea or two about what I could do with the extra money (yes, while on the trip), so I think we will stay put.

I doubt 2004 to 2006 (one room location) will make much of a difference. I also would avoid floor 5 with all of the kid's clubs. I've seen so many kids running around the floor and screaming, I would think that the rooms would be affected. Floor 6 is nice. However, $300/cabin is a lot of money. You'll have to determine if that's worth it or not. For me, I wouldn't be on the 2nd floor if I could help it, but that's just me. However, we wouldn't spend an extra $300 for a verandah (whereas others would). $300 can buy a lot of souvenirs.

We have only sailed deck 2 on the Magic and love it. I wouldn't spend the extra to be higher up!

DD just got off the magic - she was on deck 2 for the first time (we've always sailed concierge, this was her first time in a porthole room)..

while i can't tell you about your specific location, as she was in the midship area, she said she LOVED being on deck 2.....and LOVED her stateroom..
she was surprised at how much she loved deck 2 and a porthole room..
she says from now on, she'll go for deck 2 whenever she's on the magic/wonder...

We were in 5022 once and really loved the location. However, it was a Panama Canal cruise, so far less kids on board. We never felt like we had more noise from the kids. However, we got some noise from the theater. It did not bother us as it never happened when we wanted the room to be quiet.

We have stayed on Deck 6 before -- mid-aft and aft -- and never had any problems with noise, etc. We have had the occasional kids running up and down the hall, but that's anywhere.

We had friends that stayed on Deck 5 and loved it -- actually said it was very quiet and didn't hear that much noise from the kids' club.

The only forward experience I can relate is that on the 10-day Southern Caribbean cruise on the Wonder we stayed in an ocean view forward -- first time forward. I felt the ship movement rising up and down every time I tried to lay down and felt seasick quite a bit. The seas were not rough, I just think I cannot be in a forward room -- but it didn't bother my DH or DD at all.

I just booked a room on the Wonder also on Deck 2, I see some very mixed reviews. I will just pack earplugs, which I usually do anyway. I think being able to take stairs will be a huge plus.

I have stayed on deck 2. I do enjoy deck 5 and have never had issues of noise from the clubs, expect when passing directly by the clubs!

Stayed in 2002 on the Wonder this past March - our 4th time on deck 2. Very quiet, muster location was in the WD Theater, great location for getting up to atrium, after hours and restaurants. The room is slightly larger too. Nothing but positives for this room.
