We went to Disney last year for our first time and loved it so much that we wanted to go back this year. So, once they announced the Free Dining plan again, we booked for the same week as last year. To cut costs we went from a Deluxe (WL) last year to the Moderate (POR) this year.
Our trip was from last Wed (Nov 14) through yesterday (Nov 20). The day before we left, my 11 year old DD woke up VERY sick. I freaked at the thoughts of having to cancel our trip or other family members catching it. However, we have come to the conclusion that she has something wrong with her stomach and did not have a virus. The dr thinks so too b/c this happens often with her.
We (hubby and I) boarded the plane the next day with our 4 kids (18, 14, 11, 8) and four other adult family member. Halfway through the flight, a small boy a few rows up started throwing up.
Then, my adult neice got sick. I was REALLY REALLY freaking out at that point. Come to find out, she had a hangover!
We get to the POR and are completely amazed at how beautiful it was. We were at MK by 1pm and started our vacation. Thanks to Fastpasses and our Touringplans, we knew where to go and when. It worked, for the most part.
Then we had an amazing dinner at the Kona Cafe at the Polynesian. We ended the night back at MK for Wishes.
DAY TWO - All day in Animal Kingdom. Wonderful, except it was COLD and cloudy all day. Not much fun after you ride Kali River Rapids in shorts. Lunch was great at the Flame Tree BBQ. Dinner was at Sanaa at ALK. It was good but not our style of food.
DAY THREE - Another MK Day. We were lucky enough to go into the new Fantasyland for an unannounced soft opening. It was really neat to see. Dinner was at Portabella in DTD. REALLY REALLY good and the nightlife was hopping. THe kids were dancing to the music.
DAY FOUR - All day in Hollywood Studios. Lunch at Starring Rolls (good food but really confusing to use the DDP). We left there at 6:00 and rode the boat to Epcot for dinner at the San Angel Inn. That was an aswesome experience. Good food and wonderful atmosphere. It took 2 hours for dinner so we missed Illuminations.
DAY FIVE - EPCOT. We got there at Rope Drop. Lunch was at Sunshine Seasons and after lunch we walked to the World Showcase. We were really hoping for an unannounced soft opening for Test Track but it didn't happen. Dinner was at Tokyo Dining and it was delicious. We learned to eat with chopsticks, which the kids really enjoyed. AFter Illuminations, we headed back to the resort.
DAY SIX - Our "leftover" day. We started with Expedition Everest in AK, then we headed to HS for RNR again. We stayed for a few more things, like the Beauty and the Beast Show. Unfortunately it was so cold (I think it was only 50 degrees and cloudy) that we had to buy a blanket in the store to keep warm. Then, we headed back to the resort for a short rest and dinner at Boatwright's. Very good. Then, we headed BACK to HS for Fantasmic and the Osborne Family light show, thanks to the EMH. It was fun to see it snow.
DAY SEVEN - We checked out of the resort about 10:30 and stored out carry-on stuff at the resort. We headed to DTD for shopping and a late lunch at Wolfgang Puck Express before we got on the Magical Express.
