Sebastian's Make A Wish Trip to Disney

Wow Amber! I don't know how you do it all! You are a very strong woman and I will be saying lots of prayers for your babies tomorrow! Don't worry about packing! What needs to get done will get done! You need to take care of yourself! You're gorgeous but I can see how tired you are in the picture of you at the hospital with Sebastian on Monday. Just breathe and take it one thing at a time. The packing will get done and if you forget something, I'm sure GKTW will be able to help you out! It wouldn't matter if you all wore the same thing every day, you will have a wonderful trip. I'm glad the ear issues were figured out before you had a long flight with 3 babies in pain! Lots of hugs to you! Hang in there!

Oh Amber.... :sad2: I'm so sorry... :( It's just not fair, is it? I'm definitely praying for all of you!!!! And praying hard that Siennah got in too or at least that the antibiotics are working!! Begging the Lord is more like it. I just want to give you guys a BIG  ! Praying that they'll recover really fast and that the surgeries will be completely successful and that their little ears will NOT be in pain in the plane.

Amber, I read your post last night and teared up at your post. I can "hear" how tired and frustrated you are. I said an extra prayer for ya'll last night and hope this morning went successfully and everyone feels better and the tubes were successful! Sending cyber hugs!

:grouphug: Wow You and your poor sweet dears. :scared1: I know I am going to spell all these but Megan at age 4 had her tonsils adenoids and 1 tube put in. They only did 1 tube because the other one didn't need it. He said her tonsils were so swollen and bad that he in his 500 years had not seen any that bad. He said they were like a sponge someone could walk by her sneeze and she would catch a cold. (she was always sick). And her ear that needed the tube was so full with liquid behind it that he said she was 98 percent def in that ear and if we hadn't gone to him when we did she could have gone def. I am telling you this for a reason. Now that Dr rx was to give her crushed Tylenol with codeine and sprinkle it down the back of her throat. She was not having that. So I called her regular Dr and she gave me an rx for liquid version. I hope they all do well and you can make your trip and put all the past year behind you. :grouphug: pixiedust: just in case.

I have been following along all through you TR. You and your family are so brave! I hope the surgeries went well and they were able to fit Siennah in. I wish you and your family all the best. :)

I'm saying prayers for you all right now and always!
My heart started pounding when I read your last post because I can just imagine how frantic and frazzled you are. The best thing about this board is that we've all been there to some degree. We are feeling your pain and wishing you well. If I could lend you some of my energy and strength I would, but I will gladly lend you my heart.
Praying for a very speedy recovery!
Misty

Amber, I hope things went well today. I am so sorry you are having to deal with all of this right now. Keep us updated when you can and we'll be saying some more prayers.

I have been keeping up, but my first time posting. I hope all is well. I know about tubes--between 4 kids we have had 6 sets so far. We also did the adnoids out for 2 of them. Both of these made them so much better. Hope you guys are recovering from the day.

Huge prayers being said for you and the kids. I hope Sienna gets her tubes too as it would be terrible for her on the plane if her ears hurt.

Everythings crossed in the hope that things go well for you.

Pack in one day??? Course you can, you are miracle mum!

I just wanted to let everyone know that everything went great with the kid’s surgeries yesterday!

The Hospital really was packed. We overheard the check-in man talking to his colleague about how they have not seen this many surgeries in one day in the past three years. Apparently the record was 40 in one day and today they were in the 30s. If you think about it, it makes sense….by this time of the year many folks have met their deductible so they figure they should go ahead and take care of things prior to the New Year but before Christmas.

Even with so many people the place was ran REALLY efficiently. We were impressed by each staff member we met. Our nurse, Linda was really sharp. The anesthesiologist, "Dr. Keith" was great and Dr. Clyne was awesome! They each talked to us at length and walked us through the whole thing. We felt like pros by now!

Unfortunately Dr. Clyne was not able to able to fit Siennah in for surgery, he tried. He said that ideally she needs to have tubes too but given the time crunch the Biaxcin should kick in and she should be a okay for the flight. Getting her to swallow the wretched medicine is a tall order. We have to restrain her and squirt it into the back of her throat and force her to swallow it….not fun!

We are forever grateful to Dr. Clyne for doing this for us. He does not usually do surgeries on Thursdays and pulled strings to get us in so the kids could fly on Saturday in time for Sebastian’s Make A Wish trip. I kept thinking of him as my Ty Pennington... the poor man was acosted with no less than four hugs from me yesterday.

We definitely have walked a rocky road this year but God has always provided a way for us to get through it.

Here are some pictures from yesterday…

We placated Savannah with the paci all we could but she was HUNGRY!!!

Picture057.jpg

My MIL's help was invaluable as usual. She kept Siennah while Brian and I manned the kids in the PACU. Brian, worked from home till we had to leave and even answered calls in the van enroute and in the waiting room.

Each of our "Surgical Team" members introduced themselves.

As they walked off with Savannah to the O.R. I told them to take good care of my baby girl!

Then it was time to get Sebastian ready.

Picture063.jpg

It was funny to hear Sebastian saying "Pus-Ox" today....he meant "Pulse-Ox" but I think he thought it was "Pus" because we kept talking about pus in his ears.

Nurse Linda was great! I don't know how she kept it all straight. She only managed to write in the wrong chart once...ha ha!

Sebastian drinking his Versed.

Here is Savannah in the PACU. Dr. Clyne said she had a "rip roaring" infection in both ears. He said he sucked a LOT of thick white pus out of her ears. Poor love she should feel better now.

I could see Sebastian come in across the hall from me. They let Brian come back and be with him when he was "stage 2" and off of oxygen. I got to go back and be with Savannah right away though. Dr. Keith and Dr. Clyne actually walked me back to the PACU before going to do Sebastian's tubes. They joked that we got the surgical "dream team" --sure felt that way!

Picture075.jpg

We had to move Savannah to a priavate PACU room with a door because when she came out of the anesthsia she was crying and another patient that who had just had a DNC thought that it was her baby crying :(

I was really happy she was awake. I kept asking the nurse when could I feed her. She was sooo hungry from not getting to eat since the night before. When I finally did get to nurse she breast fed and then sucked down the 7 ounce bottle I had pumped for her in the morning.

Picture076-1.jpg

Sebastian did NOT end up having his adenoids taken out because it turned out he doesn't even have ANY! Crazy I know but Dr. Clyne says that sometimes they see that.

At one point I just started to chuckle. Brian and I sat across the hall from each other each with one of our post operative children and it just struck me as funny. I know it's not but really, what else it there left to do but laugh? It's been such a ridiculous year.

We all had popsicles! Sebastian's was blue...can you tell?

My packing list is down to one page....I can do it...I can do it!

Awwwww.. okay, I am all teary eyed and I just got ready for work! I love your kiddos. I am so glad that the surgeries went well, they will feel so much better. We have had four sets of tubes between the two of my boys and the relief is so immediate.

Hugs and best wishes for a great trip!

So glad to hear everything is well. Good luck with the packing and enjoy your trip. I believe we are arriving the day you are leaving. Perhaps we'll pass each other at the airport. *hugs* to you and your family.

I am so glad things went well! I love the picture of the 2 kids together- so cute! Now just throw a few things in a suitcase, relax and get ready to go to DisneyWorld!

Carol

I am glad that all is well. I am sure that you all will have ag reat trip and the meds will help Siennah on the flight.

First of all...I am so glad that your kiddos are ok! Sounds like they are going to be totally ready to have an AWESOME trip!!

I am also very glad that Sebastian does not have any adenoids. I was worried about that. One of my friends kids had that surgery...and they had to get the adenoids and it was days longer for her recovery. I was praying about that yesterday...that you guys would not have to do that. :)

Secondly...

You are such a great historian and storyteller!! Awesome pics...I feel like we were there!

You are so organized and such a trooper! I am totally impressed!! :)

Amber - SO glad things went well. I can tell by looking at the picture of you and Savannah how much stress is off your shoulders when the surgery was done! Here's to a speedy recovery and a WONDERFUL trip tomorrow!!!!

I'm so glad it went well. Having two kids with health issues myself I have joked with dh about having them in rooms next to each other in the hospital someday. Sometimes all you can do is laugh.
Now I hope your trip is wonderful, you really deserve after this year.
