Staying at the HRH for 5 nights in May. We are all set with our unlimited 7 day passes to US and IOA, but we are thinking about spending a day at SW. We won't have a car, so wondering if there is a shuttle. If so, is this our best option and what is the schedule, cost, etc? I have heard that you want to get there when it opens, but hopefully it won't be too crowded as we plan to be there May 2nd (Wednesday).

The other option would be to skip SW and spend the four days alternating between the Universal parks and the pool at HRH. We could then apply the savings to our dinner at Tchoup Chop! :thumbsup2 This will be the first time for us (me, DW, DS-5, & DS-7).

Suggestions? :confused3

Thanks!!

From what i can remember when we stayed last May there was a shuttle bus that left the HRH at 9am - we decided that would arrive at Seaworld too late so ordered a taxi. I think it cost about $25 each way but i think that is worth it to get there for opening time. Managed to ride Kracken, front row seats twice - unlikely we could have done that if arriving after opening. However we were slightly later in May and maybe the crowds will be lighter when you go.

Before our last trip, I sent an email to PBH asking about a shuttle to SW. This was their response:

"We do have complimentary transportation to Sea World that departs from the Portofino Bay Hotel at 9:50am each morning. This is the only pickup from the hotel. Returning, the shuttle departs Sea World once at 6:25pm. No reservations are required. If you wanted a taxi cab, the approximate fare would be around $17 each way. If you have any further questions, please contact the Concierge Desk. Thank you for choosing Loews Hotels as your vacation destination!"

We opted to stay on-site the entire week and skip SW since it was our first visit to USO. May try it this trip though.

During our Aug stay, there were 2 shuttles (buses) in the morning, 10 & 10:30. 1 return at night, 8pm. We didn't do the rides (except for kiddie land), so an arrival after opening was fine. We didn't have to wait in any long lines.

We took the shuttle down, and a taxi back. The taxi was $16.

shuttles leave from each on site hotel.

when you check in, you are given a map to show the wait area for it.

last year, there were two time periods for the shuttle back and forth.

they keep to a schedule. if you take the shuttle to seaworld, which is free, and want to return back to the hotel prior to the return scheduled shuttle, taxi is the best way to return.

call the hotel a week before you plan to check in and see what the schedule is for the sea world shuttle.

Thanks for the responses! I

t looks like the shuttle / taxi back combo is the way to go. :thumbsup2

if you take the shuttle to seaworld you will get there at a reasonably good time

if you decide to take a taxi back to the hotel, do it when it is not rush hour.
if you travel anytime after 4:30, you will have more traffic and it will slow you down.

taxis charge by miles and time.
