SW is a full day and depending on when you go might even take 2 days to see. You have to realize the shows are spaced ot but are also between 15-30 mins long each. Then to see the exhibits and rides in between the shows. You will be there all day. Also SW shows don't always start at the same time. The shamu show for one doesn't start til the afternoon. They open different areas of the park at different times. The front opens first and then the back end opens later around 11. Unless its a holiday or really busy season they open it all up.
We basically have free entry into the park and I was hoping to make it a half day thing but I can see how that may not be possible. Thanks for the info!
We are still in FL and spent ALL day one day at SW and went back for a 2nd (about 4hrs) to finish the shows we missed. We still missed one of them. I can't see how people do it in under a day. We had early entry and had NO wait for Antarctica, got right in line for the dolphin feeding, and had quick queue passes for the main rides, too.

With free entry, I would say go for your half day. You will be able to ride the coasters or see a couple shows. It will give you a chance to get the feel of the park and then want to return at a later date if you like the park.
Being locals we go pretty often aand sometimes don't ride any of the rides or go to any of the shows. It is just fun watching the animals, going to the aquariums, etc.
We went this summer for the first time. We spent almost the entire day there. It was open until 10pm but we left around 7pm. We never got to the dolphin show or the acrobat show and never made it on the water ride as the line was so long.
