Just returned last night from 5 nights at RPR and 4 nights at HRH. During that time we went to Discovery Cove once and Seaworld 3 times. Spent a lot on cab fare and just wanted to give a heads up to anyone planning on using the shuttle to Seaworld.

When we checked into the RPR we were given a schedule for the shuttle as follows:

Departs resort: 10:00 a.m.
11:30 a.m.

Departs Seaworld: 7:30 p.m.

Now this schedule didn't work too well for us, since we like to get to the park when it opens (9:00) and leave in the afternoon to go swimming. We did take the shuttle one day.

The first departure (10:00) also stops at Wet and Wild. At the HRH we arrived early and waited. And waited. And waited. The shuttle never showed up! Finally one of the women at the bus stop called the HRH desk. They told her they had nothing to do with the shuttle and had no way to contact it. After much discussion they agreed to take the Wet and Wild people over in a van, but the Seaworld people were out of luck. When the van finally arrived, the driver had a real attitude, telling us how grateful we should be for the favor, because they didn't have anything to do with the shuttle, etc. I told him that I understood they didn't own the bus company, but when the hotel provides its guests with a shuttle schedule I did not think it was unreasonable for the guests to expect it to actually show up!

Anyway, cab fare one way to Seaworld is about $15.00 for anyone who is planning to go to that park and you may want to build that into your budget.

We took the shuttle during the summer and it left from the hotels four times during the day and left Seaworld for the hotels four times a day. The schedule changes throughout the year.

I asked about the shuttle when I called the hotel a few weeks ago because I too was trying to plan how to get to Sea World from the RPH. Since we have breakfast ressies at Sea World at 8:45am, you can imagine that 10am does nothing for us either!!!

I was told however that the shuttle leaves from the different resorts at different times. She said that if I needed to be there earlier, I might try the departure times from the PBH, the HRH or I think even the parks, they may have better times. I have gotten no info about this.

Does anyone out there know about other shuttle times to Sea World from the Universal resort/parks area?? I got the impression that the shuttle does not do multiple stops at all of the resorts, they made it sound as if it were direct to Sea World and Wet n' wild.

Thanks in advance for any replies.

The shuttle when we were there left the HRH at 9:55 and RPR at 10:00. There were quite a few people on it when we got on at RPR, so I assume they picked up Portofino people at about 9:50. Each hotel does not have its own shuttle. The bus loops through all the hotels. It also does not pick up a Seaworld run at the Universal Parks.

I had the same idea as you about picking it up elsewhere, but it wasn't a viable alternative. They may do it differently during the busy season, but that's how it worked last week.

Taking cabs was a little pricey, but it was easy. They wait outside of the hotels and the bellman just gives them a whistle when you want one. At Seaworld they wait at a posted taxi/bus stop. At Wet and Wild you have to ask them to call a cab for you when you are ready to leave.

Redmic,

I SO appreciate the info! It sounds like taking a cab will be a whole lot easier than fooling with the shuttle situation. Especially with two children in tow and a wheelchair, I definitely don't want the hastle.

I suppose it's still true, they do advertise that a PERK of staying on site is the "complementary" shuttle to the theme parks and Sea World and Wet n' Wild, it just doesn't seem that convenient for many guests. I'm with you I like to get there when the parks open, a shuttle scheduled for 11:30 is like, why?

Anyway, thanks again for the info. We will take a cab for sure.

Thats late for a shuttle in march the shuttle got u to the park a little after 9 so the park had only just opened and u got to wet nwild before park opened they did have a later shuttle about 10 as well:jester:

When we took the shuttle in the July it got us to Seaworld just before opening. It was great because I ran back and rode Kraken a couple times with no wait at all!

We took a taxi from RRP to Discovery Cove (next to SeaWorld) a year ago July and it was $14. It was $5 when we took it to Wet n Wild. HOWEVER, you should check prices before you jump into one, because this past July it cost us $8 to get from RPR to Int'l Drive! Don't know if there's different cab companies with different rates or if that was some kind of price increase from the year before.

My trip was in April which was a bit ago but we took the I-trolley. Not sure if it goes towards any of the U/IO hotels. We were in the hotel across from wet n wild and it was perfect for us. The trolley was empty! The wait to go home was only a short while but that was ok for us.
