SeaWorld Newbie questions

I've been doing some reading and had some questions about SeaWorld. We are heading to Disney from the 21-28th of this month and tonight I thought it would be fun to spend a day at SeaWorld bc neither DH or myself have ever been. We have Disney Annual Passes so I'm not worried about missing park time.

Is this a good place for 2 adults with no kids or are we going to be bored? I love animals and have always wanted to see a whale so there's that. Is there one day of the week that is known to be a better day than another? I was leaning towards Wed. the 25th right now as we don't have much going on that day so I could easily clear the day to have an open to close day at SeaWorld.

How long does it take for a first timer to really enjoy most of what there is to offer? We aren't worried about the rides so much (not sure if they are even part of a regular SeaWorld admission) but if there was time we would fit some in although I am not a rollercoaster person at all. I would really like to feed whatever animals I could and see any shows about the animals that are available.

How many different feeding experiences are there? Are they all $7? Any other advice or strategy suggestions for a first timer?

Oh one other question. My mom is coming with us but doesn't know if she wants to go to SeaWorld or not. If she has a AAA membership, can she get our tickets for us even if she doesn't go?

Thanks!!

DW and I are only 2 adults, and we love Sea World. We usually pick mid-week as well and we've been able to do everything in one day. Sea World could very easily be a 2-day park depending on how much you want to see and do, and if you want to take your time seeing it.

You mentioned going on Wednesday the 25th. I think this would be a good day to go. Parks should be less crowded then. My first suggestion would be to check the show schedule for the day you want to go. The major animal shows to watch (IMO) are: One Ocean (whales), Blue Horizons (Dolphins) and Clyde and Seamore Take Pirate Island (Sea Lions). Look at the show times and start from there. The dolphin show and Sea Lion show are pretty close to each other. Whales are on the other side of the park. So plan accordingly. Another suggestion would be to get there before/right at park opening. This will help you get through the park in a day.

The rides are part of the admission. I suggest, if you really want to do the rides, do those first. Lines tend to get long. And as any other theme park, long lines mean a long wait. Being stuck in line could throw a wrench into your plan. You said you don't really like coasters. Kraken can be a little bit of a rough ride. Manta is one of the smoothest coasters I've ever rode. Love this coaster. Journey to Atlantis will get you soaked. Wild arctic is a simulator. You can choose to do the ride, or skip it to get to the animal attractions. You would take the land tour instead of the helicopter tour.

I've never fed the animals. Just mainly looked at the exhibits. So I can't offer too much advice here. Same with the AAA tickets. I would think your mom could get the tickets for you. See if she can go to a local AAA office and see if they have them.

Send me a pm if you want more information. I'd be happy to help you come up with a simple touring plan based on park hours and show times.

Hope this helps

Thanks for the information. It has been years since we've been to Sea World. DH and I will be in Orlando for a convention for him and they are having their closing night at Sea World on Saturday night April 28. Not sure what a private party will be like.

SeaWorld is a much more relaxed paced park. If you don't want to do the rides, then don't! There's still plenty to see and do! There are 3 main snows (Shamu, Sealion and Otter, and Whale and Dolphin) to see while there, I would suggest planning your day around those shows, and seeing all 3.

The animals you can feed are:
Dolphins- $7 per tray, each person has to purchase at least one tray to enter the feed area.

Seals/Sealions- $5 for one tray with 5 fish, $20 for 5 trays

Also, there are Sharks and Stingrays; they have tiered pricing, ,where the more trays you buy, the bigger the discount. I think it starts at $5 for 1 tray, and goes from there, not sure of all the prices.

There are also plenty of hidden gems to see animals; at that time, if you go after April 27th, Turtle Trek (with the Sea Turtles and Manatee's) will be open.

Under the Manta roller coaster is an "aquarium" with several small aquariums inside, same with the Journey to Atlantis Ride; there's an aquarium in the back of the gift shop. And don't forget to check out the Underwater Vewing for the dolphins!

We love Sea World and go ever year on annual passes. All of the shows are great. When you get there get a map of the parks which also has all the show times and plan your day. you should be able to fit every show in and do the animal feedings in between. If you want to do rides do like someone else said and get those done first before the lines are crazy. I personally love the arctic simulator ride and the polar bear exhibit. The all day dining is great to have. It covers your meals as well as snacks and drinks throughout the day at participating restaurants. Before you pick the day go to their website and see what the hours are the week you are visiting, there could be a day that they are open later and you could go with that.
