A while ago, I found a great map of where to catch the #50 service to Seaworld from DTD.

Whilst I have been searching, I have come across conflicting information - one is that it's difficult to get transportation to DTD before 9am - don't know if it makes a difference but we are staying at OKW and were planning to travel by boat (or is there a walking path?)

Also on one post it says that the 50 service goes from DTD first and then to TTC and then to Seaworld - another post has it the other way round - I had hoped we could bypass the TTC.

Also does anyone know where to find that map - is there a bus stop at West Side - where I believe the OKW boat docks

I wouldn't count on Disney transportation to DTD that early in the morning. Either walk or take a taxi. I guess you could wait a few minutes for a bus befoe springing for a taxi.

Bus service from the resorts to DTD starts around 8:30 a.m.; it may start a bit earlier when TL opens at 9 a.m.

The boats don't start until 10 a.m.

There is a path from OKW to DTD West Side, but there's been some debate as to whether it is intended for guests. It runs along the south bank of the canal that the boats use. It appears to be lighted as it would be for guest use, but some have claimed it is only a service road or only for golfer use. The path doesn't really run through the golf course, it's along the edge and is paved differently than the golf cart paths. I have seen joggers using it in the evening, but that was a couple of years ago. It does not seem to be on any of the exercise trail maps that are offered to guests. The distance is roughly a mile from the south end of OKW resort.

Link 50 stops at TTC before DTD on the way to Sea World. There are at least 2 stops at DTD: on the West Side behind La Nouba, and on the street corner behind and across the street from the toy store, which is a short walk from the Marketplace bus depot. (The OKW boat docks at PI, probably about a quarter mile from La Nouba.)

If you want to leave before 8:30, you'd be better off taking the MK bus (service starts about 6:30), and then the resort monorail to TTC (starts at 7 a.m.)

P.S.: If you do decide to try the walking path, the entrance is between villas 54 & 55. After you cross the bridge from OKW Southpoint, turn left and stay on the same side of the canal all the way. When you reach the bridge to SSR, you'll not cross the bridge, but continue along the shore past the practice putting green to the West Side parking lot (this short stretch may, in fact, be signed "golfers only.") When you reach the parking lot, walk straight across it (following the parking lanes) to the bus stop.

I would just take a bus to MK at about 7ish, then monorail over to the TTC and get the Lynx bus from there...much easier than getting to DTD. That's what we did...got to SW about 10 mins after it opened.

Do the math. Probably much better off walking, or taking a taxi, to DTD.

8:03 the bus leaves the TTC, 8:18 DTD. They could leave OK at 8a if they take a taxi to DTD, 7:30-7:45 if they walk.

They'd probably have to take the 6:30a bus if they want to catch the 8:03 bus from the TTC. A bus leaving at 7a might not get them to the MK in time to take the monorail to the TTC for the 8:03 bus.

FWIW it's less than a 2 mile taxi ride from OKW HH to DTD West Side, so a taxi would be less than $10 and take 5 minutes. It's just about a mile walk from bldg 55 at OKW (1.6 miles from HH ) to DTD West Side, so approx a 25-45 minute walk.

:confused3
Even an out-of-shape geezer like me can do a mile in 20-25 minutes!

Nobody is more out of shape than I am and I think I might even be able to do a mile in 20-25 minutes, the 45 minutes was if walking from the HH area which is approx 1.6 miles.

I think you'll agree in general and cost aside taxis are the fastest way to get from one place to another, in most cases faster than driving yourself. Personally I always rent a car and use it to go everywhere on site including MK.
Last month on a solo trip I thought I would be adventuresome and used the bus From OKW to DHS and the boat from OKW to DTD, the experiences reinforced my reasons for always renting a car.

I have nothing against the Disney Transportation system, I'm sure it does a great job for those who choose to use it, it's just not for me or my family.

I have always respected your knowledge of Disney Transportation and have learned a great deal about the transportation system from yourself and other bus drivers like magic bus. And have passed that knowledge to others here on the boards when appropriate. But when someone just asks for the "quickest way" I have to give an honest answer.

BTW do you know what happened to magic bus I haven't seen him posting in quite a while.

Thanks.

I think I recall seeing that one of the other 2 drivers who used to frequent the board moved west, but I don't remember which one. I never knowingly met them (we have somewhere around 1,300 drivers including part-timers.)

Thanks for all the responses - definitely food for thought.

I never even considered that the boats might not be running to DTD early in the morning.:goodvibes

I suppose it's going to depend on how early we get up in the morning and where we are situated in resort as to whether we will attempt the walking path on thta occasion.

We are fans of Disney transportation (only rented a car once in all of our many stays) - we like the boats especially - but even so, would not consider a long convoluted bus ride and a mega early 'get up' to save 10 bucks. I think taxi (at least to DTD) is going to be the 'way to go' on this one.

Thanks again

When you reach the bridge to SSR, you'll not cross the bridge,

So SSR is also walkable from OKW? We also like exploring places on foot and there are not too many places you can do that within WDW.

Yes, the path and the bridges physically exist, but, again, I'm not sure what Disney's position is on non-golfers using them. The bridge to SSR is used by the golfcarts to get from the clubhouse (at SSR) to the LBV course. And the bridge at OKW connects 2 parts of the course.

The bridges are the only potential conflict points. The levee path itself is separated from the course by landscaping.

There's also a bridge to the Treehouses. It was fenced off when I walked the path, which was while the Treehouses were under reconstruction. It's probably open now.

I found a link on the Mears site re taxi costs between any 2 places - OKW to Seaworld was coming out at $19 one way . Now thinking we'll go for this option - didn't think this was too bad at all for the convenience of a later start and no hassle - we could always travel via Lynx via DTD on the way back, eat dinner at a CS at DTD and then jump on the boat back to OKW
