Hi,

We're doing Seaventure at Discovery Cove in May and I've been trying to find out some information about using your own camera. I've tried contacting Discovery Cove direct, but they only sent me some generic response that didn't answer the question. So does anyone know:

Can I use my own underwater camera during Seaventure? I assume I can as there are loads of videos out there of people doing that, but wanted to check. If you can are there any restrictions on what camera you can use?

I saw that you can use one of Discovery Cove's under water cameras (for a cost). Is that still the case. If so how much does it cost and can it take video or just photos?

Many thanks to anyone who can help. We want a video of the experience so were going to buy a camera if they are allowed (If any one has used a camera there any recommendations would be great!).

Cheers!

I don't know if this will have more information for you or not, but its DC's email response to my similar question back in November 2013:

"Dear Gina,

Thank you for contacting Discovery Cove. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you with planning your day.

If you are participating in the SeaVenture activity, please note that we do not provide a photographer or videographer in the Grand Reef during this dive. You can use your own camera or we can loan you a digital underwater camera to snap as many photos as you’d like. At the end of the dive, these photos will be uploaded to our Adventure Photo computers for you to view and purchase, if you wish. The SeaVenture photo CD is a great value at only $50 plus tax and is a separate purchase from the dolphin interaction CD.

Unfortunately, these photos cannot be added to either the Adventure or Ultimate photo packages.

I hope this fully answers your question but if we can assist further please let us know.

Best Regards,

Thank you very much! That answers it perfectly, cheers.

My response from them just said "You can't take cameras in with the Dolphins", which wasn't what I asked at all!

lol, obviously someone didn't read your question very well!! That would be the answer to the inquiry as to whether you could take your own camera into the dolphin swim (not SeaVenture). :)

We did the sea venture. Yes you can bring your own underwater camera and i would suggest it. We did not and i regret it. They also will give you one if you want but then you have to pay for their pictures. Definitely bring your own.
