I need a hotel in Seattle for just one night prior to a cruise. The recommendations on-line are all over the place.

I need something close to Pier 66, but I'd like to explore some of Seattle before I ship out.

Thanks,
Edie

Well I'm not sure what would be the closest to Pier 66 but if you thow out some names of hotels you are considering I can give you some info. I've stayed at several of the downtown Seattle hotels for business...

Sounds like you need to visit Cruise Critic - not the DISboards. (I visit both because I"m going on a cruise to Alaska in August myself!! :cool1:)

Here's a link to the West Coast Departures thread area. If you search for Seattle and hotels you should come up with a ton of information!!

Good luck.

PS: We will be flying in on the day of the cruise so we're not staying over in Seattle. So I have no info myself.

Seattle is not very big, so as long as you stay in downtown, you should be able to see everything and still be close to the pier.

Do you have a budget in mind? The Edgewater Hotel is super famous and right next door. Hotel 1000 is very, um...trendy? Eclectic? But fun and they have a great restaurant.

Then again, I do not find Seattle to be very big, and it's quite walkable, so most hotels that are in the downtown area would be fine.

Staying downtown can be very pricey. This will be the 3rd year in a row that I've taken an Alaskan Cruise and stayed in Seattle. The first time was at the Warick, the 2nd time was the Seattle Sheraton (LOVED IT) and this time it will be the Westen. I've used Priceline and Hotwire.com and have gotten some good deals thur them. I also 2nd Cruise Critic they have a wealth of info.

Thanks for all of the suggestions.

I decided to stay downtown (the Westin -- $85 on priceline). Now I just have to figure out how to get from the airport to the hotel. I may just take a cab since it will be nighttime (besides I've saved a lot of $$$ on the hotel).

We stayed, as a splurge, 7 years ago at the W and it was wonderful. If you can't stay there, eat the breakfast. I had hot tea in an oriental teapot and some of the best potatoes ever. Mmmm. I hope they still have them. :goodvibes

A towncar service can be just about the same price as a cab or they do have some shuttle busses that run from SeaTac to downtown.

The Westin is great and a cab won't be too bad. There are some great restaurants within walking distance of the Westin.

The Westin is lovely and that price is astonishing.

Remember, the airport is actually around 30 minutes+ away from Seattle, and I know that going the *other* way (south towards Tacoma) is going to run you around $60...definitely look into a towncar or shuttle unless you really want to do it. Of course a taxi to the pier as well.
