Our son is on the autism spectrum. We'd like to try The Lion King and Nemo shows at the Animal Kingdom. Can we request to be seated in an isle seat in case our son freaks out and we need to leave? We'll be getting a GAC.

Yes, you can. For both shows, let the CM know that you may need to leave if your child becomes upset.
For the Lion King show, there are certain points where leaving is difficult because of the action going on in the show. It’s a show in the round arrangement, where the show is in the middle and the seats are around the outside of the building. There are times when the actors are in the aisles. They do make an announcement before the show that if anyone needs to leave, they need to contact a CM so they can leave safely. So, it would be very important for that show to let the CM know when they seat you that you may have to leave so they can place you in an easy to get out place.

We always sit on the end of a bench. When others come we let them through to fill in any space. At FOTLK they ask everyone to squeeze in. We don't squeeze in and if/when a CM comes with guests that need to be seated we give them a quick explanation and the late comers squeeze by and sit in the empty space. This way we still get to sit where we want to sit.

We also do this in the Handicapped section for Fantasmic.

I agree that there are many times during Lion King where it would be virtually impossible to leave without harm to yourself or the performers. It might be best to ask to be seated nearest an exit.

Fantasmic should be no problem leaving if frightened. I have seen mmany parents leave with their screaming children. The CM's are all at the back of the theater and have flashlights to assist you.

Perhaps your child could watch a clip of both on YouTube to see if he would like it, get used to the music, the volume, etc.

We do this. For DD we get the stroller tag that allows us to use her stroller as a wheelchair so we get seated in the handicapped section (if this section is almost full we wont take in her stroller in) so she can stay in her stroller which is her "safe spot" and were on the end so we can make a quick exit if needed.

In the memo show the handicapped section is in the back (and I've never seen it even close to full; if you are using the stroller as w/c, you can sit there; even during the show, it's pretty easy to find the exit (we didn't make the whole performance last time lol; but that's ok we will try again next trip)

If your child gets overwhelmed by characters or people in costume, you might want to sit a few rows from the front also, since on the the best things about lion king is that you feel like you are right in the action for some of our kids the first time they see it it can be overwhelming up front.
