We are a party of 4. Will we be seated w/ other people? Just need to know ahead of time because DD2.
Thanks

When we ate there last year, we were seated in a "car" with three bench seats. Each seat holds two people. We have a family of four and we did have a mother and her daughter in the last bench. We have eaten there before, but I cannot remember if there are cars that seat just four.

We are a family of 4 and have had "hitchhikers" lots of times. You don't even know they are there unless they get really rowdy.

Or if you look around, smile and start a conversation with them like I did once. When they found out how many times I'd been to WDW, they started asking me what were my fav things to do in DHS since they only had that afternoon for touring it. I sure hope they had a great time.

My teenage son was sooooo embarrassed I was talking with strangers. :rotfl:

we've eaten there twice, the first time as a party of two...we were seated in the backseat of a two-seater car. The young couple in front smiled when our waitress referred to us as parental-type hitchhikers, so no hanky-panky in the front seat (they were actually newlyweds on honeymoon, too.) That was it for total interaction between front & back seat. The screen is high enough, everyone in the car can see well.

The second time we ate there, we were a party of 4 and were again sat in a 2-seater car so it was just the 4 of us. But even then, my son & his wife were in the front seat and it really is not conducive to conversation between front & back...because of the stationary table & bench seat construction, it's not really comfortable for the people in the front seats to turn around and chat with the people behind....and the noise level of the movie clips is pretty loud so it was difficult to hear the people behind you.

My general impression is that about 1/2 the cars in Sci-Fi have 2 seats, about 1/2 have 3 seats. There are also a few that are basically set up as regular tables with chairs (they just have a car-front and back on the ends of the table. ) Those are mostly for parties of 6 or families with toddlers/babies needing high chairs.

We are two and were placed in the last row of a car behind a family of 4 - two kids in the front, parents in the middle, us in the back. The server and host kept referring to us as "hitchhikers" It was not awkward though, we did not feel like we were eating with the family.

We have eaten here at least 6 times, we have been a party of 4 most times but we have also been a party of 2. As a party of 4 we have sat in the front 2 benches, as a party of 2 we have been the hitchhikers. We have always been in the cars with 3 benches.

I hate sitting behind strangers. The last time I had a woman with really long hair that fiddled with it, flicked it, etc. It creeped me out that it was over my food.

Love the atmosphere here.

We are a family of four and just got back from WDW on Saturday. We ate dinner at Sci Fi on Thursday night. My daughters were seated in the front of our pink car and my husband and I sat behind them in the middle row. A little later, a couple was seated in the last row of our car (our hitchhikers).

BTW, we really enjoyed our dinner at Sci Fi. It gets some poor reviews here but it was definitely one of our favorite meals.

We are a party of 5 so always get a car to ourselves but for parties of 4 it just depends how busy it is as to whether you have hitch hikers or not in the back of your car! We love this restuarant so much - food great, atmosphere brilliant and the kids just love the novelty of eating in a car whilst watching scary movies!!

so as a family of 5 how will we be seated? 2, 2 and 1?

Depending on the size of your children, they may seat you with the 3 children in the front seat together and the parents behind. The seats are pretty generous in size. Our son, daughter in law and 4 year old son were seated on the front bench together the last time we ate there as a large group. Our son is about 6'2" so it's not like he's a tiny person.

If you are in a car, you will likely have a party of two seated either in front of you or behind you.

To the OP, yes you will probably have hitchhikers.

Now that we are a family of 5 we generally take up the whole car. DH usually sits by himself. When my son was 11 months we were seated in 2 rows, with hitchhikers in the back row and our DS in a high chair right next to us. The following year he sat in the same row as me and DH. That was our choice--we were offered the whole car but we chose the cozy squeeze in so no one would be lonely. ;)

Can you request to sit at a table? We are leaving in 2 weeks and I'll be about 6 months pregnant. Big pregnant belly and booths generally don't go together well.:)

I'm sure you can. There are several tables in the back. I wondered if the people at the tables requested them or if they were just sat there. I'd be bummed if I was just sat there, and didn't request it so I'd think you'd have to request a table.

Yes. There are actually "car" tables that are not the two seater rows. It's a regular table with six chairs and a car-look front and back surrounding the table. We were originally placed in the regular cars, but with DW, myself and 2 kids, that meant having to sit in front of and behind each other. We like to interract more, so that didn't really suit us well. We asked the CM if we could move to the next row with the car-look table I described above. She said that those were usually used for parties without ADR's, but since we had an ADR and were specifically requesting it, she didn't see any problem. Within a minute, she moved us and it worked out really well. Since we were still in a "car" (as far as the kiddos were concerned), it didn't detract from the experience at all. Just to clarify, these were tables well within the restaurant mixed in with the others, not the little tables (non-car themed) in the back.
