Seating on the rides issue

There are three people in my family (including me) and I was wondering, on the rides, how many of them have three seats next to each other?
Because I know on Splash Mountain only two people can seat next to each other, and I am worried about that fact that one of us will have to sit next to a stranger.

Did you encounter this problem? How much did it bother you?

It depends on your size. We are small and we were able to fit three across on Splash until our kids were teenagers.

There are some rides, like Everest and R&RC for example, where you can only fit two across due to the seat restraints. Space Mountain seats three in a vehicle but only in a 1-1-1 configuration.

We are 3, and typically (can't think of an exception) on 2 across rides, they leave one seat vacant, no stranger to sit next to.

It really depends on the ride. But if it is a 2 seater like SM, the 3rd person will just get a seat to themselves directly behind you, rarely are you seated next to a stranger. Honestly I don't think it will be a big deal for you. On slow rides you can still talk to eachother, and on thrill rides, you are more worried about the ride then who is sitting next to you.

Never bothered us a bit when we were 3 and I wish they would fill in that seat lines would go faster, most amusement parks do. You sit next to people on busses and trams so whats the difference

I'm used to being a single rider. Doesn't bother me at all. I just strike up a conversation with my seat-mate and enjoy myself! Everyone's there to have fun.

Yep, not sure they actually try to fill those odd numbered seats ... except maybe on the rides that have "single rider" lines.

We travel as a 3, and have never had to sit next to a stranger. Except for one woman getting confused and sitting next to my father on Spaceship Earth by accident.
Test Track sits 3 across I think? We fit 3 across in Splash Mountain with 2 adults and me when I was around 14.

I travel alone and almost NEVER have to sit with strangers-certainly never in anything where it would just be 2 people-like HM,Splash or BTMR. Obviously I am called on to fill a row on things like IASW or POTC, but I think unless the lines for a ride were exceptionally long they would respect my travelling alone.

Having said that i was asked at DL if I minded sharing a roller coaster carriage with a young boy whose granny didn't want to ride (Wise granny!) but of course I didn't mind that-I don't think they would have let him ride alone otherwise

Gee, they allowed two rather large adults to squish in next to my 14 yr old daughter on Splash Mountain our last trip (I won't get into that awful story again!) so I think 3 can sit in a row for that ride :rolleyes2

No one ever got in next to her for BTMRR, either. And you can all sit next to each other on Test Track! :teeth:

Offhand I can't think of any attraction where this would happen, but if one of you is an adult and two are children, you could have the children ride side-by-side and the adult ride separately. That way, even if a stranger were put in the seat next to one of you (and remember, you're a stranger to that person, too), it'd be the adult and as far as I can tell, a non-issue.
But to answer your second question - no, it wouldn't bother me in the least.

I ride many rides as a single rider due to my DH's medical problems. Sometimes I sit with others and sometimes I don't, I have found in the line I normally strike up a conversation with those around me. The few times I have been alone on Splash I was beside a family of 3 with 2 children. After talking with them in line many times when we got to the front we said we were a group of 4 and I sat next to the oldest child- none of the children riding for the first time want to be alone. I didn't have too and I woulf have sat right behind them if this didn't happen but i find it fun to ride with people (strangers or not) who are experiencing a ride for the first time. If the park is very crowded they sometimes fill up all seats and on RnR and EE you will have to sit next to a stranger but on most rides they just leave an empty seat (since there are normally more than 1 group of 3 on a ride vehicle it seems like a waste to me.)
