Seat pitches on flights

Hi,
we are travelling to Florida on a TCD flight. It says on their site that they have seat pitch of 31" which is more than other economy flights. My husband is 6ft 4 and we are always concerned about legroom (we were going to upgrade but my mum has paid for us all to sit together!)

Anyway I just wondered what is meant by the seat pitch? Is it from the edge of your seat to the seat in front? or is it from the back of your seat to the seat in front?

Thanks

We have been with TCD twice now and have always been comfortable. I am sure they take the measurements from the back of one seat to the back of the other i.e. exactly the same place on each seat.

You're probably right Claire, but I always thought it was from the front of the rear seat to the back of the one in front.

The seat pitch is from the back of one seat to the back of the one in front. See this website for seat pitch etc of all airlines

thanks for the info guys.

I am a bit worried for my husband now though as its pretty tight (he's 6ft 4)
Is there any seats in economy that we could request with a bit more legroom? (with another airline, they put us in medical seats)

Its too expensive to upgrade in August.

Thanks

I feel your pain - it's a constant worry if you are tall. My DS is now 6'7" and my husband a 'mere' 6'2" so I know all about it. We've found airlines generally to be understanding but do not give guarantees. One airline wanted a doctor's note for special treatment but you had to be at least 6'5" for that but that did ensure he got a reserved emergency exit seat.

My advice would be to let them know in advance (ring up) and then arrive very early at check in. I'm assuming this is a carrier that does not charge for emergency exit seats.

Good luck with it.

It's amazing how the seat pitch varies from one airline to another, even it seems, when using the same type planes!
I stand corrected on how it's measured...

Let you off just this once Ian, LOL. I will now admit I only knew how they measured it because I had looked on the website about seat pitches the day before the question was posted - still I looked quite clever there for a while! :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc
