Hey everyone:

If I buy my tickets online now with Delta, there is an option to pick my seats. Does this cost extra? Can you actually pick your seats or is this just noted as a preference. If I don't pick my seats, what is the likelihood that we (5) can sit in the same row? We're going in March.

Oh, and can you lock your checked bags?

Yes you can pick your seat when you buy the tickets. We have already done ours for our trip next Aug. There is no charge. Just make sure to keep checking your itinerary each week for any changes. There are times they change the type of aircraft and that may affect your seats but you would then be able to make changes if necessary. Supposedly the only way you are allowed to lock your checked bags is by using an approved TSA lock. I don't recall seeing many locked bags.

Some airlines have preferred seats and there is an "up charge" but the seat choice screen would indicate that. To decide which seats to pick, check out seatguru.com
