For some reason I never noticed this till the other day, but why are all the cheap season point wise late in the year? Is WDW usually more crowded in the spring?
I'm guessing that the un-peak season starts with hurricane season/school starting, then a traditional winter getaway do not usually start until the beginning of the year. so there probably is a normal "lull" in family vacation plans at the end of the year.
I think there used to be a larger crowd difference, but the "free dining" and other promotions (F&W MNSSHP, MVMCP) have helped to even out crowd levels

WDW is typically more crowded in the spring during all the springs breaks and Easter time. It is tends to be more crowded during July 4th, Thanksgiving and Christmas breaks.
