Searching for the "perfect" time to go - please help

Late April/Early May....as long as school is not closed.

We love the 1st wk in November - walked onto rides warm but not too hot. I have to say though we were also there Sept. 2007 and loved the warm weather due to being able to walk also onto rides.

We were there in April before vacation wk. and it was chilly in the am and then warmed up through the day.

We are going in 20 days so we'll let you know how the crowds are.

Thanks for your continued replies. I think May and Oct. are looking like my best bets. We have been at the end of Oct. before. I LOVE MNSSHP and thought the weather was nice. We did have a few cool days, but nothing drastic. I don't remember there being any rain, but I know Oct. is the end of hurricane season. For those of you who have been in both May and Oct....any other pros and cons that I should consider when making my decision?

We have went in May for the last 2 years (first week) and love it! Great weather - not a single day of rain either week, 80's, not too hot sometimes breezy, DAK was the only HOT park both times but it's always the hottest it seems! We enjoyed cool nights where we were able to wear jeans if we chose and often a light sweat shirt was needed for EMH!

We changed our plans to go in Jan 2010, but I'm starting to rethink it based on my love for Disney in May, what I've heard of the Brazilian tour groups recently, and a few photos I just saw of the big crane taking down the lights on the castle during park hours the same week I was planning to go - THIS was a major bother when I saw it - so unattractive really! If anyone could verify that for me, it'd be great because I heard Jan. (last week is a great time to go and many said better than May!)

May has my vote but I was hoping to read Jan. myself!

Another vote for May. It's not too hot and the crowds are medium - until you get closer to memorial day.

I had read the tour groups (I guess the brazilian kids) were here in Jan. and caused a bit of ruckus! Maybe check the theme park threads, but they may not have been so great to be in the parks with! I gather that the kids had worse manners in terms of pushing, shoving and line cutting than the cheer leaders at Pop Warner!

Yep I did. I was there May 3rd for 7 days. We were in The Grandstand area, did you see me there? Sorry to be OT but I was hoping to run in to someone from the DIS!

To be on topic, May still seems to be the perfect timing, so much so that I'm still considering moving our Jan vacation back to May because its so wonderful then. As a matter of fact, I don't know what I'd do with out F&G fest!

Sorry. for a sec. We were there second week in May. But I remember your previous posts about staying at SSR. We too love grandstand section. But like you, my DH has a couple of tattoos. Never get the stares until we dine for lunch at the GF and his shirt doesn't cover them up. Then he gets "the stares/glares" too.

And, back to May, can't wait to be down there again. IMO the weather is near perfect and the F&G show is something to see.

Our favorite time to go is mid to late Sept. If you time it right you can be there for Food and Wine as well as MNSSHP. The crowds aren't too bad (so long as there isn't a free dining package) and the weather is great.
