Searching by Resort & Room for Availability

Does anyone know a way to search a resort for room type availability and get a list of available dates?

I am pretty flexible on travel and I was wondering if I could easily see when a SSR Treehouse was available other than by slogging through week by week.

The on-line booking engine will allow you to check availability for up to 2 weeks at one time.

And that is best you can do. They don't have it programmed to simply show you, for example, all days in July, August and September that a Treehouse is open.

Thanks for the responses - I thought that might be the case, but I was hoping that there was something I was missing.

It is funny that there must be some reason that they do not want you to be able to search like that as it would be amazingly simple to implement.

A shame they don't open it up. There's no reason why it can't show more results, month a time for example.

Historically, "Disney" and computer systems that are "amazingly simple to implement," "user friendly," or "function well," has always been an oxymoron. I doubt there was any nefarious plan by Disney IT to deprive members of an easy to implement service. Its websites are always a work in progress where progress seldom works.

Thank you I needed the laugh. I have an image of both my fortran and lisp teachers doing basic database searches saying if you know A & B what query should you run...

Maybe Disney needs to hire some computer science teachers from the x0's. (yes I'm an old fogey but you don't need to know how old.)

Truer words were never spoken!

I believe the reason they don't open it up further is because when you search for something, it puts a temporary hold on the results it brings up.

Now you are teasing me into problem solving.

Maybe they could run the query in this case "for general information only" and caveat the system to say "room availability not guaranteed until reserved using the booking tool."

To whom it may concern I can be paid in one time use points. I think a fair rate for the thoughts provided above would be a week at AKL in a club level 2 bedroom. (I have 4 kids.)

The search feature is annoying to me as well. I am generally very flexible with travel, and would change the week OR the resort depending on what would be available at any given time.

I find it very ... IDK.... demoralizing I guess, when I have to keep searching and searching just to see that what I am searching for is unavailable every time. I would rather have it just show everything available at any given time and I could go from there.

For example: Put in your dates, and the room type and you choose from the resorts available for that time frame.

I guess that is over simplified, because most times it's 1 or 2 days in the middle of the week that are unavailable, so I don't know what I really want. :upsidedow

I guess I just want to not see so many days booked up all the time. :rotfl:

I've been making DVC reservations since 1999.

Even though the online booking engine doesn't have all the features we would like, I am THRILLED to have it. It sure beats calling MS (and getting fast busies or stuck on hold).

I'm sure that enhancements will be made at some point. But I don't want any quick enhancements - they need to be thoroughly thought out and tested before release. DVC booking is much more complicated than booking a Disney cash reservation.

That said, suggest away - :teeth: Can't hurt!
