I tried to search the forum boards for the word windsor in hopes of finding some information about the windsor hills condo's and townhouses located near disney. The search provided nothing yet when I go mucking through the boards I can find threads with this information.

I thought that was just me, I'm glad I'm not the only one thats been happening too. I have no idea why it doesnt work.

I just tried it an no problem

Well if I go to search and look up windsor it finds nothing....don't know what else to say. I've even searched disney and it found nothing either.

The saerch function here on the DIS is very tricky. I think I have found the secret.

When I click on "search this forum" I get the drop down box. At that point I click "go" without putting anything in the search box. That takes me to another search box. Then I type in what I'm looking for. When I typed in "Windsor" I got plenty of threads.

Hope that helps.

Well I tried that and it still doesn't give me any search results which is odd. I've tried it on 4 different computers and all the same thing. I'm at a loss.

I think that the drop-down boxes for "search" or "search this forum" don't work at all anymore, and the links should probably be deleted. But even the "advanced search" page seems to be temperamental -- sometimes I'll search for something that I *know* is there, and nothing will come up. Then I can try the same terms on another day or maybe a few hours later, and will pull up a bunch of threads. (Oh, and I think that the ability to search for posts by a specific username is also gone -- so maybe that should be removed as an option to avoid confusion.)

I'm so not liking the new search "server." :sad1:

I've been a member for a year and a half, and in all that time, the search function has never worked properly. :sad2:

That was very helpful for the OP, what about those of us who are lost without our SEARCH option. :)

:rotfl:

Usually I do the advanced search as a previous poster mentioned, and if I know it's on a specific board, I'll select ONLY that board to search.

I think sometimes the search "fails" because there are TOO many results and it kind of "overloads", you know?

It also depends on what you are searching for;)

The other option is that the search supposedly works better (and you can search posts by user) if you change your background color to "California Gold" (scroll down to the bottom of the screen and on the left there is a drop down where you can select different backgrounds).

Once upon a time, the search was actually great! (at least IMO) Then it changed and now most of the time I can't find anything I'm looking for. I really dislike the search here.

I actually did this recently and the search does work better, go figure.

I have never had a problem with the search feature. It works fine for me.

I type in Windsor or Windsor Hills in the normal search and it brings up loads of threads. I click on "Advanced Search" and sort by "thread start date" and it also works.

Wow your right, i just changed my background to california gold and all the search results come up properly. Very Odd......thanks guys, it's fixed!!!!

THANK YOU DENISE (ROADIE)

You have fixed my problem. You have no idea the frustration I have had trying to find things. Woo Hoo I am no longer Search inept. :thumbsup2
