Hello. Thinking about going to sea world this year. Last trip was when dd was 2yrs old, She is now 13. Not sure what has changed. I remember the sea lion show and shamu show but there wasnt a whole lot. I dont even think there were any rides. Please let me know if
- its worth going again
- have they added more shows or rides
- what different themes are there throughout the year

Depending whats new then we will decide on funcard or just the oneday pass.

San Diego
What else is there to do besides beach and legoland?

We will do a oneday trip to sea world or a weekend trip if there other stuff to do. Thanks for any advice or info

When were you thinking of going? There is some pretty heavy construction (read:closures) until Summer. That said, there is a LOT of new stuff since you were there 11 years ago! The shows change regularly, and there are a few rides (one of the construction projects currently is a new roller coaster to add to the existing one, the flight simulator, and the raft ride). Right now they have the Shamu show, the dolphin show (Blue Horizons), Pets Rule! (my favorite show), and the sea lion and otter show. In the summers, they also have an acrobat show. The summer has longer hours and nightly fireworks. They also have night shows that are different than the animal shows that they have during the day, but that is only during the summer season. I still think you'd be okay with just a one-day pass, but make it a full day. They do things for Halloween and Christmas too, but it's not as involved as say, Disneyland by any means.

Legoland is not in San Diego, but rather in Carlsbad, which is about 40 minutes north. Your daughter is also kind of too old for it. 9 or so is kind of the general recommendation for when it stops being cool and starts being "for babies" lol. How about the zoo? It's much cheaper than Legoland and is a full day's worth of entertainment.

Thanks for the info about construction. I was thinking about March but I guess Nov would be better. We took dd to leoland when she was about 8 and the one thing she loved the most was the rollaer coaster-lol! We've been to the zoo when she was lil and to animal park several times when she was 9 and under. We had Disneyland annual passes last year so wanted something different this year. She will be going to knott's Berry Farm on a school fieldtrip this year. Well I just hear San Diego is so pretty so I figured a weekend trip would be fun. I think your right about just a day pass.

Sure thing! I have several friends that work at SW so I have a bit of a "scoop", although the construction is no secret - it's listed on the website - but the breadth of it is hard to communicate by just looking at the site. In the interest of full disclosure, I work at the zoo, and we are also undergoing some major construction right now. Construction projects are tough, (just like California Adventure's major overhaul) because you know that the end result will be really cool and worth it, but in the meantime, you do have to see a lot of the construction walls, fences and other "non-romantic" sides of the project before you can get to the end result.
