Has anyone done the Trainer for a day tour at San Diego? It looks like the Marine Mammal Keeper experience in Orlando, but is $95 more. I was wondering if anyone has any experience? Because $495 is a lot of money, and the info on their site isn't enough to persuade me. Thanks!

I did this when they offered it at Sea World Florida, it was awesome! Although like you said it is a lot of money and i'd only do it if you're a big marine mammal/ Sea World nut like me. Whatever you do totally depends on what your assigned trainer(s) has to do that day so you will most likely do different stuff to what I got to do. We started off by heading to the Sea Lion area and got to see what takes place backstage whilst a show was going on and we also got to meet a sea lion, a walrus and an otter. After we had finished in that area we went for lunch, which we had with some trainers next to an area "backstage" where they keep all the birds of prey they use for the Shamu show, one of the trainers had one of the dogs with them from the pets ahoy show. After lunch we went backstage to the whale and dolphin stadium to watch a show take place from backstage, we then got to meet one of the dolphins and also a false killer whale. We were then a loud in the show tank with a false killer whale to swim with her, which was awesome-the highlight of our trip! After we had finished in the whale and dolphin stadium we headed over to the Shamu stadium and watched a show, we then went backstage and met a couple of the whales and got to pet them and feed them etc. After that we went to the shamu close-up and spent 30 mins or so interacting with one of the whales and doing behaviours with him. The day was finished watching a "blooper" tape of a bunch of stuff that has gone wrong in shows before, some of them were quite funny.

TFAD was fantastic and I wished I could have stayed longer, you'll have a blast if you decide to do it! :)
