Sea World or Legoland?

Not exactly a DL question. We will be at DL Nov 10-17. :cool1: For one of our days we don't have park hopper tickets so thought we would do a day trip (with GrayLine Anaheim?) to either Sea World or Legoland. We have 2 DDs, ages 5 and 7. What do you suggest? :confused3

I would choose Sea World. It is really awesome for kids that age....well, kids and adults of any age really. Lots of hands-on stuff...holding starfish, feeding manta rays and dolphins. Great shows. It's different from theme parks with rides and stuff....a nice addition to a Disneyland trip.

Whichever you choose, hope you have a great trip!

I would choose Sea world too. My kids are a little older (9 and 7) and we went to legoland in the UK this year. They love Disney but found legoland well...dull! Probabl ysuits younger chidlren better.

we will be doing legoland for one day during our trip in December. Our DD is 3.5 and I have read and heard it is geared towards 2-7

I have read that Legoland CA is geared for the under 10 crowd. We are doing a day trip using the Grayline Anaheim in Feb. on a Thursday. I just got a brochure and if you opt to buy your own tickets for admission they will only charge you the cost of travel. Not sure how much that is since I have not called yet.
I am choosing Legoland since DS will be 6 and at the perfect age to enjoy it. We will most likely do SeaWorld next time which people enjoy at any age. Legoland it sounds like you have a small window of opportunity age wise.

I vote Sea World, too. Having been to both, we thought the kids were more entertained at Sea World.

Vote for Seaworld too. My 5 year old loved it. He keeps asking when we can go back so when we go back in Dec we're probably going to take a day and head down to SD.

We have done Seaworld but not Legoland. We are doing Legoland this time because ds will be 5 in December and is at the right age for it. The two older kids are willing to give up a day at Legoland for the little bro since he has given up so many Disney rides due to height restrictions when he was younger. If you have kids really into lego go there if your kids would enjoy seeing animals go to SW. I was not that impressed with Seaworld however kids should do it once just for the experiences they have.

This is the email I received from Grayline Tours when I asked them how much it was for transportation only to Legoland from Anaheim (since we already have our tickets):

"The round trip transportation is $40.00 per person, (ages 3 and up), and infants are free."

Thanks for the information on the transportation. We are going to give the bus a try. Yes it is cheaper to rent a car but then we don't have to figure the route there and can go the bathroom when we want.

DH and DS live and breathe Legos...........I think we have more legos then the Legostore in Oregon does. Now that is scary.....

I did some research on this one myself, and we decided on Legoland - we will be at GCH Nov 7 to 14. I was lucky to get a couple "buy an adult ticket, get child free" coupons from a friendly Dis'er- they may still have some??? My kids are 6 and 4 and my 4 yr old son LOVES Legos. Heard great things about the park.

Instead of SeaWorld, we are going to check out the Aquarium of the Pacific. It is only 20 to 30 minutes from DL and apparently there is lots for the kids to see and do . . . plus it is a few hour outing-NOT all day.

Whatever you choose, I'm sure you'll have fun!

We have added Sea World to our next Disney trip. Most of my kids are older than yours though. My youngest will be 6.5 when we go and my two older kids will be almost 13 and 16.5. My youngest would probably be the only one enjoying Legoland if we went there. He is a HUGE animal fan (knows more about animals than I do) so I think he will really enjoy Sea World. We are also going to spend a day at the San Diego Wild Animal Park as well.

Seaworld is really fun for all ages, Legoland not so much.

Seaworld will probably be open by then.

Legoland is closed two or three days per week in the "off" season, check their web site!

I am probably the biggest fan of LL on this board, so my response is really biased!! I grew up going to SeaWorld of Ohio every year, so have never been able to get excited about SeaWorld here. I've been, but not for years.
I really enjoy LegoLand because it is geared more for younger kids. So, the crowd tends to be parents and kids mostly under 10. As a result, it is a kind of a calmer, gentler park. SeaWorld in November wouldn't be all that crowded, so likely as relaxing. I always enjoyed the free beer in the Hospitality House in SW!!!
So, LegoLand is all about the kids. I go with my DD7 to indulge her, not to entertain myself...although I do have a blast!!
So, if you decide on LL, PM me and I can send you (once you send me a SASE ) two coupons for Free Child with a Paid Adult admission. Kid's tickets are $42...so it is a nice savings!!
Whichever park you pick....enjoy yourselves!! Don't miss the pet show at SW if you go there or if you go to LL, don't miss a silly walk thru exhibit in Fun Town called the Adventurer's club!!! :cheer2:

Thank you for all your responses and advice. We have decided to do Sea World this time. Thank you grumpyvet for the offer of child tickets to LL. The generosity of DISers makes me feel warm all over! You rock! :thumbsup2
