Can anyone tell me about the dolphin interaction at Sea World? I was told that for $20 or so you can get up close and personal with a dolphin, touch them lightly and feed them. Is this correct? Like is this something you have to sign up for at the beginning of the day, or do you go to that particular area and hope for the best? I assume it is sort of a show kind of thing and you have to get there mega early to get a reasonable spot. I have no idea what this show is called, where it is, or how you get to go about doing this. It sounds pretty great. I would pay to do this.

What you're thinking of is the Dolphin Encounter. Here is the link : http://seaworldparks.com/en/seaworl.../Exclusive-Park-Experiences/Dolphin-Encounter

It is $60 per person and is not a show. You must make reservations prior to your trip and cancel within 48 hours if you change your mind (you pay in advance). It is offered at different times, so when you reserve, pick one that works the best for you.

The "Dolphin Interaction" is much more expensive, but involves actually getting in the water with them.

Thank you!!! That's is exactly what I was thinking about. I didn't know there wa a program where you could get into the water. I looked into it and they have a dolphin or beluga whale program and that one is like $218 but I think I'm gonna give it a go. Yes pricey but I never get to aquariums, so to say I hopped into the beluga tank would be really cool. I once swam with wild dolphins so a whale experience would be new and cool. I may get the $60 dolphin one for my parents as their anniversary is coming up. That would be something fun for them to do together. They don't have to put on wet suits a s get in the water, but they can still interact and touch them.

Glad to see you're excited to go now that you were convinced, :)

We've done a few of the tours and have always enjoyed them. We haven't done the dolphin one but it sounds interesting, maybe this summer.

:rotfl: Yep I am feeling quite a bit better actually. I really appreciate everyone's input. I am starting to believe there is a lot more then I believe there to be. YAY!

I would actually recommend the beluga encounter of the two. The reason is that many, many, MANY locations offer swimming with dolphins, but closely interacting with belugas is much more rare. I will say, however, that the beluga session is not a "swim", you are more standing on a submerged platform up to about your waist. That said, I'd still choose this one because you can find dolphin encounters anywhere.

I've swam with wild dolphins so it's not like I haven't done a dolphin enounter of some sort before. They are just really cool. However I have to agree that the Beluga one would be pretty great. I do enjoy new experiences, and to say I jumped into a whale tank would be great.
