We went to Sea World yesterday. We went to the annual pass line, as we have annual passes. There was a family in front of us with a little girl couldn't be more than 2 years old. When they looked through their backpack, they noticed sandwiches and chips in the bag and made them take it out before they went through. They didn't have a cooler or anything, just food in their backpacks.
Wanted to give everyone a head's up.

That's awful! That's never happened to me.

I'll probably go sometime next week...I'll try to smuggle in some food and see what happens!

We've been twice in the last month and they didn't care. Just asked if we had glass. I went in the regular entrance though because I didn't know about the special" entrance until our friends (who we met at the park) wanted to know what took us so long, hehe

Did you go, and if so, did you take food in with you? Just curious, we always bring snacks and canned soda, it saves us a fortune!

I didn't go - I went to DL instead.

I will report back when I do go, which will probably be in a couple of weeks.

We went last week and took a picnic in with us. It was buried a bit at the bottom of the bag under the hats and sweaters and we had no problems. The bottles of water were in a front pocket and again there were no problems. The security guy just asked us if we had any glass. It did look like the people in front had a problem with something in their bag as they got out of line, but I don't know what with. We sat and ate it while waiting for the dolphin show. 2 CMs came over after a while and we thought they were going to say something about the food, but they came to ask if my DS6 and DH would like to volunteer to help out with the show. My DS was so thrilled he got to feed a pilot whale.

Thanks for the update, Holiday Planner! Cute story, too. :goodvibes I bet that made the trip for your DS.

I guess it all depends upon who is at the security line and maybe how busy they are....

We were there this week. Fairly busy, but not as bad as I thought it would be. The people in front of us were taken out of line and told they couldn't bring their food in. No cooler or anything, they simply had food. (looked to me from my brief view that they had sandwiches and chips kind of thing.)

We had some oreos that they didn't say anything about, but at the bottom of our duffle bag (my DH is now saying I'm turning him into a Sherpa :rotfl2: )we had our video camera bag and they asked twice to make sure we didn't have food in it and they almost made us remove it and show them.

That's a real bummer, Zoemakes5. I don't think they should care so much, when someone pays their admission and more than likely spends that and more on souvenirs...it doesn't seem right to hijack a guest into purchasing their food as well, imho. We will probably take our chances. Did they allow the people to return the food to their car?

Ok - what's the special entrance?

TIA!

I'm wondering if it has more to do with the safety of the animals than simply not allowing outside food anymore? Maybe a few people ruined it for others by feeding animals their food? Dunno, just a random thought LOL
