Has anyone done the Sea Venture at Discovery Cove? Or is anyone planning to soon.

DH and I have done Discovery Cove and we wanted to go back and try this. Having looked at the videos online it looks pretty cool.

Thanks in advance :goodvibes

We are doing the sea venture in April!! We live discovery cove

I'm jelous you are going so soon :cool1:. If you remember do a post to let us know how it goes.

Like I said it looks really cool but I want a bit more of an unbiased opinion as all the reports I can find seem to be people who were invited to do press reviews.

I did this with a friend last September. We were both very nervous but Steve, our diver, put us both at ease.

I am not very good going underwater and I was scared that I would stop breathing when I climbed down the ladder but I just kept telling myself to breathe and I was fine.

We were given a camera to take photos of the fish etc while you are walking along. The divers also give you starfish etc to hold and take your picture.

You see sharks and loads of different fish and sting rays. It was a great experience and I will definately do it again on a future visit.

It was worth every penny in my opinion - only one bad point and that is the time went far too quickly.

I must admit the whole breathing thing freaks me out a bit.I

Glad to hear it is worth the money. DH said I can do the dolphin swim again if I want to he was no se keen on it last time .But this is something we can do together.

Thanks for letting me know about the camera as well, I was wondering if they would provide one or not. I got some good ones last time with a waterproof one I bought there last time.

Happyj it will be great to get another opinion.:)

The camera they lend you is a digital one. They then download all the pictures that you and they take and you can then buy a CD.

So if you don't want to buy the CD I would suggest you take your own underwater camera.

I can't remember off the top of my head how much it was but the photos were lovely and we just brought one CD and I made a copy for my friend when we got back home.

Thats great news. I was going to say in my reply that the one I bought was just a disposable point and shoot. The digital ones do make a massive difference to the quality of photo you can take.

We would be buying photos anyway, we got some fantastic ones last time of DH with the birds and us with the dolphins.

Hi There,
I've already booked DC through ATD - how do I go about booking the Sea Venture part - do you book it upon arrival, or can you do it before? Looks fantastic!

Also, my daughter will be 10 when we go - although it states a 10 yr old can do this - do you think it's suitable - she loves the water- but I think going right down is a different thing- I don't want her panicking.

We phoned discovery cove and booked it. My opinion if your daughter likes water she will love it. :)

We booked it during the day at DC. Depending on when you go and how busy it is I suggest you book it either prior to the day or when you are checking in.

If your daughter is happy going under water then I think that she should be ok. They have a replica of the helmets that you have to wear so she could try it on and see how she feels wearing it before actually going into the water.

Bit the bullet and rang ATD to add onto our existing DC booking - as luck would have it, the adviser I spoke to had actually done it before - he said it was brilliant! I was worried the helmit thingy would fall off!!!:rotfl2: he reassured me that definitely wouldn't happen!!!:goodvibes

Thank you all for the responses. DH is up for it so looks like we will be adding this to our plans for October. :cool1:

This sounds brill... I want a go...

We got bookings for sept 6th.. We booked through Travel Agent. Do i book with them for this add on or direct with Discovery Cove?:cool1:

I would try your TA first as it has to be linked to your DC booking - but check what price they are going to charge you first - if not you could ask them for your DC reservation number and do it yourself.

I have an underwater camera which I can take films as well as photos so was wondering if it is worth using theirs. We will be a party of 3 so 3 cameras from DC. How much do they charge for the DVD. :)
