We have never rented a Sea Raycer while at WDW but always see them in Seven Seas Lagoon. We are thinking we might want to try. How much do the cost to rent, do they go fast, how far can you going during the rental period? Does anyone have an interesting experiences while renting one?

thanks

First, you want to rent from any of the MK area marinas. The Sea Raycers from those resorts run faster than
those at any other location at WDW.

1. Rented with a half-hour minimum. You can keep them out for more than one half-hour stint.
(I can't find current pricing.)
2. They FEEL really fast. They are regulated for speed, but they are a lot of fun.
3. If you stay out for an hour, you can easily cover all of Seven Seas Lagoon and Bay Lake.
4. We love to rent them and have done so many times.

Costs at the Poly as of last week were $32 for 30 minutes, $40 for 45 minutes and $45 for 60 minutes. There is tax on top of that. As Robo says they give the impression of speed but aren't actually all that fast, approximately 20mph top speed.

We didn't rent the sea racers but we did rent a Boston whaler
Down side to either is they are limited by fl state law to the size of there engine

We did this last week and had a blast. We rented from Poly, they had plenty of boats available. We rented 2 boats and were out for 55 minutes. Our 12 & 14 year olds drove. They charge by the 5 minutes, I expected to be charged for 60 minutes and they prorated it. It was about $50/hour. Super fun, we'll probably do it every trip.

Thanks for all the reply's. This is the information i was looking for and you all made it sound like a worthwhile activity.

I'm a fan. I remember renting these when I was a kid, back in 1987ish, and we did them again with our kids in 2013. A lot of fun. One of ours was slower than the other, so we stopped in one of the marinas (rented at BLT/CR, traded one in at Poly), and wish we had done that sooner.

From what I recall, there are DVC, passholder, and AAA discounts available. There are usually also coupons in the back of 'Birnbaum's Walt Disney World 2015' tourism book.

With the DVC discount, I believe we paid $27./ half hr. They go ok with one adult and a small child. Children 12 and up may drive their own. It's a great way to check out areas the transportation boats go by quickly, Like River Country and around Discovery Island. We rent them at least once a trip. In the past, pre 2004, you could get the Captains Pass for you whole room, unlimited boating for $250. Best deal going!
