Blue Lagoon Island. In the Sea Lion Encounter, do you have to wear a wet suit or can you just wear your swim suit ? Which is better the sea lions or the Dolphins ?

You do not have to wear a wetsuit, but they were available if the water is too cool for your taste. We really enjoyed the sea lion encounter. You get some education about the animals, a chance to pose for a fun picture, and then time in the water interacting. Thought it was just a great time, and also enjoyed time on the beach after. Haven't done the dolphin encounter so I can't speak to that.

Our family has done both (different years). You have to be at least 8 years old for the sea lion encounter, so my daughter (then 6) and I observed while my husband and son (10 at the time). I don't think one was better than the other. Both were fun. The biggest difference from a pictures standpoint is that I saw people wearing Go Pro cameras during the dolphin encounter, but you are not allowed to bring any cameras to the sea lion encounter (because they think they are toys and may go after them). Would you rather be kissed by a sea lion or a dolphin?

We wore wet suits both times (but went in Jan I think). I've done it twice and really enjoyed it...dolphin experiences are in a lot of ports, these guys are a little different and definitely have their individual personalities! Also, their whiskers tickle when you get a smooch
