Sea Lice??

To anyone who has recently come back from the cruise or anyone who has sailed during April/May timeframe?

Have you noticed any sea lice, particularly at Castaway Cay?
Did they cause any problems?

Has anyone used Safe Sea? Did it really work to prevent problems with them?


We have a trip planned for April 30, 2005 and am trying to determine if there is a good chance we might encounter sea lice and if I should buy some Safe Sea?

We were on the Magic last week and had no problem at all with sea lice. We went into the water at all ports except Key West. We did not use Sea Safe.

We went last May on the Eastern caribbean. I didn't wear Safe Sea while snorkling in St John and I got one bite on my leg. I made sure to wear it at CC and I didn't get any. I am bringing 3 bottles on my next trip. That one sting was enough.

We were on the 4/4 Wonder and did not use anything and had no problems. We did swim quite a bit at CC.

We just returned yesterday from the 4/15 Wonder and had no problem with sealice at Blue Lagoon in Nassau or Castaway Cay. Word to the wise - I couldn't find Safe Sea in either of the gift shops on board, and the cm's looked at me like I had 2 heads when I inquired about it!!

No sea lice on April 1st cruise. We used Sea safe just in case, though.

I was just wondering how effective it really was. If it works like it claims it does it is more than worth the price, which really isn't all that much more than a good high SPF sunblock anyway.


So far it seems as if most people have been pretty lucky in not encountering them. I hope we have the same luck when we go next April.
