SDMT - Total Disappointment

I'm only 5'8", but I'm short-waisted, so my legs are as long as my DH who is 6'2" tall. Having long legs interferes with all sorts of rides. One of my favorites is "It's a Small World." For the first time ever on our recent trip, we had to sit in the last row which has less leg room. My knees were practically next to my ears. It was painful and impossible to enjoy the ride. DH complained about the small seats on 7DMT, so I'd probably be just as uncomfortable.

I wish rides were designed for all sizes, not just average and petite sized individuals.

Don't even get me started on airline seats.

I'm also of the long-leg, short-waist camp hahaha and ugh by the end of some trips my legs are so bruised! My boyfriend and I fight each other for airplane leg room too! Luckily I'm flexible, and according to my podiatrist have very loose tendons, so for me I can sort of contort in ways to make a bit more room for myself when others probably couldn't.

I think on 7DMT you might be okay just due to how short the ride is. Once you start feeling the knee bumping, it's over not too long after so all in all one of the less cramped rides at Disney for us. We love HM and rides with those sort of vehicles since there is a ton of room to stretch out in comparison!

We had a FP+ for 7DMT and were on within 7 minutes. The seats were tight, but it didn't bother me during the ride. I thought it was fun, and I liked the theme, but like a lot of people, I think it was really short. I personally would not wait more than 15- 20 minutes on this ride. We are going again in April, and this is not on my FP+ list. Maybe when my daughter is old enough to ride it, i'll be back.

We went twice for the first time on this ride back in April. I'm a big guy...6'1", 250lbs, so not massively obese or anything, just big. This was one of the most uncomfortable rides I have EVER been on, in any park. Why I went back for that second ride, I'm not sure. I was forced to cross my legs at the ankles and spread my knees as far wide as they could go. Thankfully my son is smaller and I could intrude on his space.

Americans are getting larger year by year. Yeah, it's not good and certainly not healthy. But, why Disney chose to make the seats on this ride not accommodating for a larger populace, I can't figure out.

The length of the ride was sorely disappointing too. I felt like I blinked and it was over. The theming was pretty awesome, but it's there and gone. I suppose with the position I was forced to sit in, I should be thankful the ride was so short. I lost feeling in both legs by the time we were done.

Still, I expected something along the lines of BTMRR, but Seven Dwarfs themed, and perhaps less "intense". What we got was a 70 second combination of Goofy's Barnstormer and the dark ride parts of Splash Mountain.

I was really totally underwhelmed ( like the majority ) when we 1st rode it last year, but after going on it again I actually thoroughly enjoyed it. I even forgot about the extra few spins and drops after the slow part...lol

Since we go so infrequently, we may actually get to FP+ it next time. Maybe if we get more than one ride on it during an entire week, we might feel the same way.

didnt read whole thread so i apologize if i simply repeat what others say:
personally i loved 7 dwarfs mine train, while i do agree its on the short side(probably good since its i high demand lol) the details are amazing i love the mines and all the gems i agree still it could be longer and more storyline but i like it and anyone who knows of the tale can pick up whats going on

lets remember that this is seven dwarfs Mine train not snow whites so we don't get her whole story it starts with the dwarfs heading home from the mines, and concludes with the happy dancing evening before snow whites story takes a turn for the worst as we see by the hag looking in on the festivities.
i feel its like briefly you enter the story and the are took out

I'm one who no longer rides SM because it is so jerky...it's fantastic how smooth SDMT was. I was able to ride SDMT with my 4 year old and he LOVED it...so I loved it. The same reason I love the Barnstormer, because my 2 year old was able to sit next to me and laugh the whole time! As with any ride that isn't a spinner...I'd love for it to be longer. We should get used to the fact that there will be no more Splash Mountain length thrill rides. It's 2.5 minutes and it has more theming than BTMRR. The animatronics are phenomenal!

We went on it for the first time knowing it wasn't going to be another Splash...or Space. If we had thought it was going to be a thrill ride, we'd definitely been disappointed.

It's become a 'must-do' for my hubby and kids - the thrill seekers :). We just enjoy the smoothness and theming, but do wish it were a teensy bit longer. Then again, we wish all rides were longer!

I read and heard about the negative and disappointing reviews long before I first rode it, so I didn't expect much. It's fun for what it is, but not worth more than a 20 minute wait IMO if you can't get a FP+.

I don't know what was "promised" by Disney before it opened, but if it was anything like those exaggerated commercials, I don't blame people for being upset at the result.

Kiddo and I really enjoyed it, but there was only hype and drama because it was new and I was with her. We waltzed in with an early morning fastpass and were done in 5 minutes. She was suitably scared for a 3 yo by the evil queen, charmed by seeing Snow, and enthralled by the songs and gemstones.

I have a small butt so I didn't notice it was uncomfortable.

But as an adult? Most of WDW isn't and wasn't as fun as it is now with my kid since I was there as a small child. For me. I mean the husband and I are giant kids ourselves, we own toystores, but we have way more fun now seeing everything with kiddo and through her eyes. But if it works for you, hey have fun! Is it worth hours of standing in line? All my opinion. No. Not even one hour. Not even a half an hour.

A lot of people say that the ride is more fun at night, and more fun in the back (you feel the swaying much more). As for the long wait times, try riding it during one of the hard ticket parties (if you're there in the fall) or just before closing time. The posted wait time will probably be much longer than the actual wait.

We were there during the Halloween party last year, and passed by the ride just after the official start of the party. There was no external queue at all! We should have gone in, but were rushing to do other stuff, and missed the boat. Later, there was an external queue, but we still got through and were exiting the ride about 30 minutes later. It moves fast with no FP+ riders to slow down the standby line.

I'm so glad to see so many upset about it. Perhaps I'll be able to spare the FP for something else and just use the SB line instead.

That said, the ride is clearly meant to be for younger riders. Yes...parents can and do ride with their kids. Yes, there are adults who are kids at heart and will want to ride. But because of the target of the ride it has to have smaller seats. If the seats were bigger (and less tight) the height requirement would go up, losing the target audience.

I think 7DMT is good for what it is, a heavily themed kids ride. If you went in expecting anything approaching a thrill ride I could see how you'd be disappointed. It is a once per trip ride for us just like BTMR.

I agree it could have been longer but I could say that about a lot of the classic rides as well. My wife and I had no trouble fitting in the seats of the ride but could see how it would be uncomfortable for someone really tall or wide.
