SDMT Soft Opening Lookout Post

I highly doubt it runs 24 hours, nor do I think they want it to. I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't open, but he's a more reliable source than any I've heard yet.

Common sense would have one believe that they wouldn't want it to malfunction during the party and disappoint those who couldn't get on it. Does Disney want to promote how popular the 24 hour event was or deal with people *****ing because the ride broke down during it?

I agree. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago that one of my CM friends (I know, I know) implied to me the potential bad press that would gush if Disney opened 7DMT at the media event a couple weeks ago and then it failed during the 24-hour day. It's yet to flex its muscle for even a regular day. He suggested the May 28 open was to clear the 24-hour day for that reason. It makes quite a bit of sense.

Jim also talks about the past few weeks and the "perceived" problems everyone is guessing about. Most are related to landscaping. Whether or not everything he says is gospel, his info is better than disboards speculation in my mind.

Interesting.... we are heading to Disney today and will be in MK tomorrow. I am hoping for a ride on it, lol. I can see why they would not want it open for the 24 hours event though.

We did the mission space soft opening way back when, lol....I haven't been on since! We were just walking around and a CM asked if we wanted to ride it.

Again... fingers crossed.... I will be very disappointed if we don't get on it. We will probably go back another day too either Sunday or Tuesday...

I just woke up from a dream and I was riding 7DMT in the dream -- it's a sign....... Will be at MK tonight and much this week. I doubt we will hear anything until they are soft opening. One CM at the ride said they don't get told anything until the morning they start work.

A friend of mine asked yesterday and was told "no passholder preview day" and "no soft openings". Very surprising to me!

I'm kind of okay with them doing CM testing and no soft opening. These guys work hard for not as much money as some jobs and from the pics I've seen on Instagram they feel like VIPs for a day getting to ride it early!

I also agree they won't do a soft opening during the 24 hour day. That day is going to be one of the busiest days they have this year. If they open the ride it will be immediately swamped. I guess there's a chance of them opening it in the wee hours if the morning if the crowd goes down but from what I've heard the 24 hour days stay busy through the night.

In my experience soft openings are done when crowds are lower which is probably why they are having problems squeezing one out. Crowds are already up for the summer and only getting higher. Testing with employees is something they can control.

We live in a hyper connected world now. Soft openings can no longer be done quietly. If it happens word can spread tooooo fast.

Hoping to be pixie-dusted during the past few days but no...

There were CMs riding pretty constantly yesterday (mostly in the front and rear cars). We overheard costumed CMs at the gate (not that we were hanging close to the gate or anything!!!) saying to supervisors that they had been told that riding CMs needed their SDMT boarding passes, but then apparently that got changed to needing boarding passes AND their valid CM ID.

Seems odd to me as well. I think it just all depends on who you ask. When Spaceship Earth went through the refurb, we were told no soft-openings, yet we rode it about 7 times on an 8-day trip. (two and a half visits to EPCOT)

They always needed their ID. It states on the back of the Mine train pass they needed it.

There's a chance someone wasn't enforcing it like they were supposed to. Lol.
