SDMT Soft Opening Lookout Post

Finally posting instead of just reading the boards obsessively. We'll be in the MK on 5/11 for Mother's Day and 5/16. Hoping for a soft open one day, or hopefully both!

I was really disappointed at first about the May 28 date since we leave May 26 and I can't extend our trip. But with 50,000 FPs, I think we all have a better chance of riding a soft opening. And now I have an excuse for another WDW trip!!! I'm looking forward to Star Wars weekend and so much fun with my family!

I really wasn't disappointed at all....we know we are coming back in 2015 and can you imagine Magic Kingdom that first week! It will be a zoo!! We have a ton to look forward too on this trip! Maybe we will see you there.

I'm a little confused. How does a soft open work? Will they secretly open the ride and only tell a select amount of people or something crazy like that? Are there secret passageways?

. Sometimes it is for a select group of people ie castmembers or passholders. Sometimes it is open at random if you happen to be in the area then. Sometimes for a special event Ariel was open for the halloween party I was at. I am hoping for either passholders OR at the May 23 24 hour party. It is for testing purposes boarding flow etc.

We got fastpasses for the 28th. I tried to change my time on that and there were none left ! Anyone know how many fastpasses are given out in one day ? I sure hope it wont be a zoo
I picked this day for us because it was suppose to be a most recommended day according to easywdw. I emailed him (Josh) and asked him if he thought it would be crowded because of the Mine Train opening. He wrote back and said No it's not a big deal, expect it to be running most of the day a few days before opening.

I wouldn't assume that it means soft openings on that date. I will also be there on the 15th, but if this is their first day of training, will they be running cars full of park patrons?

On this page, click on the two boxes in the corner of the picture on the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Up comes an activity and game. It starts with a countdown. When you finish the activity, it brings up a 'come back on the 16th to finish your training message.

It appears to be counting down to THAT day - the 16th. Not the 15th.

Watching this tread. We are here now and they are still running trains with maybe one cm. I was hoping for soft openings for dvc or ap. The family leaves on the 11th and we leave on the 18th. I'll post if I see something going on. I think we will head back to mk on Sunday

We leave a week from tomorrow for 6 night. At this point I am not expecting them.
