SDMT or A&E first thing in the morning?

We will be in the parks on July 19th. This was a last minute trip, so we were not able to secure FP+ for SDMT or the A&E Meet N Greet. However, we did get an 8am BOG Breakfast ressie, so we will already be in the park before rope drop and we will be close to the back of the park. If you had to choose which to do between SDMT and A&E Meet, which would you choose? I have two boys, ages 4 and 8. We have never ridden SDMT but they do love A&E. LOL

I would hit SDMT first and then check back for A & E and see how the wait time is. As the day goes on, the wait time will go down. Last summer we waited 45 minutes for Anna and Elsa at 9:00 and it was posted 95 minutes. So the wait time was a bit off for us. Keep checking those fast passes too, they seem to pop up when you least expect it

How unrealistic would it be to hope that we could get on SDMT right away, like by 9:15, and still be able to make it over to A&E before the wait time is too awfully long?

Not unrealistic at all! If you're lucky you'll have the mine train done and over with even sooner.

Be prepared for 7DMT to become your kids' favorite ride.

If you have pre-ADR at BOG you will be able to ride 7DMT and be done before 9. Then you can hop in the line for A&E. If it's too long just wait for the end of the night if you want. In my experience A&E times drop off a little easier than 7DMT.

If you re interested in an alternate strategy, the A&E line is open until a half hour before park close. On a recent visit just before 11:30 pm, the actual wait for A&E was 10 minutes with a posted wait of 90. Over at 7D, we found an actual wait of 10 minutes with a posted wait of 80. This allowed us to visit A&E and ride 7D twice in about a half hour.

Not a bad use of time in my opinion.
