When I did FPs, I could only get a 3pm pass, and it really doesn't fit into our day. So it's only my 6 year old and me. If we are in the park at rope drop, what do you think is the rides wait time without FP? We also have a 9:05 PPF FP. We are coming for FW via the boat, so I understand the first boat is 30minutes before park opening. So that's the best we can do. I think they now let guest fill in main street before opening, so that's new for us. And I'm guessing could make the difference?

Use your FastPass. 7DMT gets a long line instantly at rope drop.

The buses begin earlier, so if you would like, you can hop on one of those to get to the MK's rope drop sooner. 7DMT will be insane, no matter what. Personally, I would wait for your your 3PM fastpass. Occasionally check the app to see if you can change your time to earlier in the day. They might open up, especially since there are only two of you.

Ok thanks very much. I'm using touring plans for my schedule and it seems very optimistic. So glad I asked.

I'm not as much of a naysayer on 7DMT at Rope Drop as the others here. If this were me with my 6 year old, I'd much rather get 7DMT and our other rides out of the way early so we could be back for resort/pool time (or something else) in the afternoon.

Just know that a large majority of rope drop people are doing the same thing, so you're going to have company. Position yourself in the hub near that bridge that goes towards the Tea Cups and get as close to the rope as you can. Then just follow the masses when they let you in. I'd figure you'd be done by 9:45ish (assuming a 9AM park opening) or maybe even better, although I'm spit balling that a bit. But it's not like it's an instant hour wait at rope drop or anything, it'll be the lowest wait times of the day.

There are some websites/Disney blogs that have documented the experience. Maybe try searching EasyWDW's site, I know he did it awhile back.

Good luck!

We did the paid early event at magic kingdom in August. We were riding SDMT most of the time that we had and there was a long line waiting to be let into the ride line before park opening. Most were from having breakfast at BOG. they go for 8 and then get in line. The wait time was over 30 min at park opening
