SDFP: CHANGES COMING!! Beware the 7th of June?!

As a major contributor to @ScrapYap's threads for the past two years, there is "standardized terminology" that has been used so that anyone new to the thread can follow along. SDFP MBs is the standard for this thread. The new, revised OP has all the terms that are easily understood and are clarified by ScrapYap.

As a Moderator, I would like to remind everyone this is a family-friendly discussion board and to please remember to post in that manner. Remember that DISers of all ages read the boards and some vocabulary can be construed as being offensive.

In general, my experience is that they like to have everyone scan their own in a 1-to-1 correlation, unless it's obviously for a small child or someone who might have difficulty scanning their own for other reasons (when we took my almost-90-year-old inlaws, I just carried and scanned theirs). It would be less a concern that they had different MB's and more just difficult for them to keep track of who had scanned and who hadn't. Most likely, they wouldn't stop you or anything but it might clog up the FPP line a bit for others so I'd say the easiest thing would just be to hand everyone one as you approach the line and collect them either after scanning at the first (or second, for the few rides that still have it) check point.

Makes sense, thank you!

Hiro, you do realize that i was joking about having the term stick, correct? Much bigger things to worry about than if someone like a phrase I came up with and proposed in passing and in jest.

I know you were joking. It's the "offensive" part of it that is my focus as the word appears in at least three different posts.

Forgive me, but I didn't realize that THAT WORD was still offensive in any way in today's day and age. If you don't want it used, it won't be used.

Sorry @hiroMYhero if I was causing problems too. :) I looked it up and one of the definitions is "no longer in its pure or original form", which is how I interpreted Koz' post as using it but I can see how folks could find it offensive. Just let me know if you need me to edit or remove anything.

So if I buy an extra set of tickets and link them to our middle names would I have to reassign the tickets or could we just take our 2017 trip using our middle names? I'm a little nervous about reassigning in case they change that capability at some point. Also I have a trip in August & one in November that I've already bought tickets for. If I'm reading this correctly I could use my 2017 tickets to get advanced fast passes for both 2016 trips?

Yes.

Yes. If your November trip is not a "package," you can reassign those tickets to phantom family #3 and also use those for FPs for your August trip.

Instead of reassigning in 2017, you could just change the names of all the profiles. First change the real names to Disney character names, then change the phantom names (your middle names) to the real first names. Then the 2017 tickets will be linked to your real names.

If you're getting to the park at/before Ropedrop, I would recommend taking advantage of that first and getting ahead of the crowd to 7D or PP or Space or anything else where lines build first. Then hitting the kiosk closest to there after the first couple rides ahead of the crowds. Same day availability won't change drastically during those 20 minutes but attempting to go to 7D or PP even 10 minutes later will make a huge difference. Otherwise, if coming into the parks later in the day, I find the City Hall kiosks to be the easiest since they're right on your way as you enter the park.

Just wondering - would it be possible to hit the City Hall kiosks on the way in, if we have a PPO breakfast? Or do they not work until park opening? Thank you! :)

If have an ADR for 8 AM and the park opens at 9 AM, will I be able to make a SDFP on a kiosk before 9 AM ?

City hall has always been open in my experience once the park opens in the morning (barring tech difficulties since these kiosks seem to shut down more than others). But there aren't CM's right there to help you so this area is best if you know what you're doing (or can figure it out since it's very similar to the app process). Otherwise, depending on the park, you'd have to look at where kiosks are in relation to the breakfast since they won't just let you wander the park. At MK, usually the only other ones you can get to are the ones by Philharmagic, but sometimes these are covered in the 8am range (or a CM will be there telling you they aren't open). My technique for MK is to use City Hall if I want to get them as soon as I'm let in (usually because I'm trying to get something specific earlier in the day); otherwise going to BOG and eating and then while the rest of my party waits in the queue that will eventually go to 7D (usually in the 8:30-8:45 time range), I run over to Philharmic and play at the kiosks then. There still may not be a CM to help but they're usually uncovered and they'll let you use them.

Quick question. I have a different MDE account in my husband's name , (yes it is a different e-mail than my account.) I'm planning on buying a new non-linked set of magic bands on Disney Store just to get SDFP on our trip next month and then linking them to my husband's MDE account.

Would I be able to get SDFP on a kiosk once inside the park using the new magic bands, even though....:

1. Our names are the same as in my other "main" MDE account. Should I change it to include middle names so they are not exactly the same?

2. On my husband's MDE account (the one I want to get SDFP on) we have never booked a trip on that account. So we have never been to WDW on his account.

Will I still be able to make SDFP using this account?

Thanks for any advice/feedback,
Marina :cutie:

If you're using two MDE accounts, the names can be identical. Of course, since you have the same mailing address and identical set of names on both MDEs, it's possible that in a year or two, Disney will try to get the two accounts merged. There's no mechanism for that right now. But it still seems smart to change the names on the secondary account to your middle names.

However it doesn't matter now if you have the same names on both MDEs - the kiosk will not know that you already have a set of FP on the first set of bands when you tap the second set at a kiosk. Makes no difference that you haven't booked a trip on that account. All you have to do is link the new MBs to your husband's MDE and tap the bands at a kiosk to get SDFP. Have a magical trip!

I would say that "including" middle names may not change much since only the first name usually shows up at the kiosk or on the first page of your MDE. As ScrapYap said, there's no reason you "need" to change them, and the SDFP's should work fine for you. As long as you plan to keep the two MDE accounts separate and not link them and access them from say two different phones , everything should be okay. If you do plan to link though in order to be able to see all the plans through one MDE, I would change the ones on the second account to middle names (not just first AND middle names) so at a glance it's easy to see which bands go with which FPP's. Otherwise, when you go to the kiosk to make changes, all the first names from both accounts will pop up and it will show Mary has 7D from 2-3 but also has PP from 2:15-3:15, which may confuse you and a CM if they try to offer help. Again, if the two accounts aren't linked (you haven't accepted friend requests), then it'll be fine. But if so, I'd change the names to prevent confusion.

Had a brief but successful trip to WDW this weekend. Used my tickets for my December trip to make multiple generator linked fast passes (GLFP) and it worked flawlessly. Able to see all the reservations on one MDE and used middle names for everything. Really came in handy for tiered attractions. Thanks to everyone on this board especially ScrapRap, Marci and Hiro!

Just a warm up for December when I'll use SDFP and GLFP for 10 people!
