Hi All, I just purchased the Canon SD700 and I am now looking for some SD memory cards. I will be taking "regular" shots, not high burst rate shots, with my resolution rates set to Large/Super Fine. Will it really make a difference if I use a normal speed or a high speed card SD card?

I found a really good price on the standard Sandisk 1GB SD ($25) and the Ultra II 1GB ($39). Will the higher speed card make any noticeable difference in my cameras performance?

The biggest difference will be with burst mode. Also if you take a lot of movies on your camera the higher speed will help. Download speed will be a bit faster from the ultra compared to a regular card, how much exactly I don't know and I haven't seen anyone post the difference.

If you just taking regular pictures I'd save the money. I have 3 regular speed SD cards for my Nikon D50. I don't bother with the ultra because I don't have a movie mode on my camera and I only have a 1.1 USB port on my computer, not a high speed 2.0. I also rarely use burst mode when taking pictures.

Just me $0.02

Following on from the above post - which i agree with 100% - I'd just like to add that the faster the card, the quicker the 'recovery' time after each shot (during which the camera writes to the card), so if you're likely to be shooting sports days, shows etc which might need the occasional quick photo after you've just shot one, i'd recommend the faster card. The difference is minimal, however.

And that's my 1.2p (after conversion) :teeth:
