We are booked on the Eastern next week and my husband would like to dive while in port. Has anyone been diving in St. Martin, St. Thomas or at Castaway Cay while on the cruise? Any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.
Another poster said very good things about the Coki Beach Dive Club on St. Thomas, and their website looks good. They've also been nice about answering my questions promptly!
I did the scuba dive at St. Maarten, and even though we had some choopy seas that day the diving was great. This was my first ocean dive so it meant a little more to me . Visibility was around 40 - 50ft and the dive tour group did a great job. I'm sure you will have a great time at any of the sites.
I did the DCL dive on St. Thomas. It was dive safari's ...
I thought they did a great job!
I know some of the people that dive more prefer to look elsewhere but I am only an "occasional" diver
Thanks a lot for your help. My DH is going to do both dives. He is looking forward to the warmer waters. He has been to St. Thomas before and loved it. The temps in Monterey, CA are usually between 45-60 degrees!! So a bit chilly.
I encourage him to dive with the Disney operators so he does not get left behind!! My biggest fear.
Thanks for the input. My husband and I are both divers but it makes me a little nervous to leave the kids on the ship while we both dive. I want one of us to be able to since we're there so I was wondering if St. Thomas or St. Martin was better. I think he's only going to dive once. Also, for those that went with Dive Safari's, did you bring your equipment ( BC and Regulator) or did you rent? Was any equipment covered in the price?
Thanks.
I rented all the equipment, yes it was covered in the price. My friend brought all his own with the exception of tanks and weights
I have only dove St maarten , so I can not comment on
St Thomas. but have heard only good things about the that area
I rented and they supplied everything, even mask, fins, snorkel. If you wanted a wet suit or a shorty, that was additional. I didn't bother and I was fine.
My son and I dove with Coki Dive club in august, and had a great time! VERY affordable, they offer free pick-up at the dock, have a beautiful reef, and because it's a shore dive, you don't waste "boat-time". They include all equipment, we only took our own mask/snorkle/fins. Spent the rest of the day on Coki beach, just limin' around.
