you have to go to a local facility and train and become certified, which can cost a bit of money and consist of several weeks (the better programs anyway).

check http://www.padi.com for more information

otherwise, guests 8 and up can do the seas aqua tour which is snuba (scuba assisted snorkeling - no certification required)

So not every one can do this? and Where do you get a scuba certificate? Make reservations?

Do do the Dive Quest ($140?), you have to be certified in scuba diving. It's not an easy course and Disney does not offer it. My parents used to own their own scuba dive business in Florida and I heard the coursework for certification. I have a college degree and know a lot of math but those questions were tough! And you also have to do a required number of dives before certification. Scuba diving is alot more than just putting on a mask and oxygen tanks and hitting the water.

I am SCUBA certified and I took 12 weeks to get certified. 6 classes of course work, knowing numbers and facts, then 6 weeks of pool training. We then went on our test out dive. You have to take a test at the end of the course, and if you don’t make an 80% or higher, they won’t pass you, so you can’t get your card. I took it during college as a course and got a significant discount. The course and equipment (basic equipment) was about $500

I have heard great things about the EPCOT dive. They have fish in there that one may never see on an open water dive. I plan on doing it one day.

My father, husband, and brother did the "snuba" tour and absolutely loved it. If you don't have scuba certification but would like to have the unique experience of swimming in the Living Seas tank, it's a great way to go.
