What is the cost of the scuba diving at the Coral Reef place in Epcot? Also, I thought I read that you have to be SCUBA certified to dive?

Any help is appreciated.........this is of course not for me, as I will be *watching* the diving take place, and will not be involved swimming around with sharks, eels, Lock Nessies, or whatever else is in there.

I didn't know they did that!!! How neat! Yeah, I would be an "observer" as well. I am not so much into swimming around with things such as sharks! I'm all set with that.

From the the Disney World website.

Duration: 3 hours with the in-water experience lasting 40 minutes.
Cost: $140 per guest (includes all gear and a limited-edition T-shirt)
Park Admission is Not Required nor Requested

Yes, the diver needs to be certified and needs to show the certification. My DW has done it twice and loved it. THey go through and show you some of the backstage stuff at the Living Seas.

After they show you a videotape of the dive that you may buy. The tape was $35 if I remember correctly.

She loved it.

I've done the dive twice (Divequest). It was one of the best dives I've ever done (and certainly one of the safest). I don't know which was more fun--seeing the unbelievable undersea life up close, or the faces of the people in the restaurant and outside the viewing windows. And yes, you must have an openwater certification card, and they check.
I got a DVC discount (15%), but it's still a little pricier than a lot of dives (but not by much). I got a cool tour backstage, and learned a lot about the Living Seas (they had to separate the dolphins from the rest of the tank because they were playing frisbee with the sea turtles) (another tidbit--it is a federal violation to endanger sea turtles; even touching one could be a federal crime).
They provide everything: wetsuit, tanks, bc's, masks (you don't need park admission, but they did let us right into the park after the dive without asking for passes).
The second time I dove they said: "those of you who have done this before may notice that we've added three turtles, and 6 sharks." :rolleyes1
I, of course, bought the videotape. There's a shot of a shark swimming right past me.

Shockingly ;) I've done it twice and really loved it. We love playing w/our kids while we dive. you do need to be certified. If you have a disney VISA card it's 20% off :thumbsup2

My only complaint is that BOTH times we did it, the video didn't work. They swear it almost never happens but I do math for a living and told them I don't believe in that statistical anomoly. That was my one gripe and I told them as much.

Don't worry the sharks in there eat fish only and are WELL fed!

...........well neither of us are certified, so I guess this is out. I had told my wife (if she got to dive) that the sharks are so well trained that she could hold a fish in her mouth, and the shark would come up and eat it. lol.

She believed me.
