Scrooge- Life and Times : A cry for help

Hi guys.
I don't know if posting here will help or not.
I have no idea about this stuff but a dear friend of mine is a huge Barks fanatic.

He adored Don Rosa' Life and Times of Scrooge Mcduck.

Now searching the net for xmas gift ideas, I spotted that Barks had a life and times book from 1981 >

Does anyone know the differences between the Barks/Rosa book, is it just different art, completely different stories etc?

I just dont want to save for this special 1st edition if it's something not so great.

Vague legal disclaimer : I certainly would not be able to tell you whether it is worth whatever money you might save up to purchase it.

However, I can tell you the two books are different. The Barks one is a collection of 11 previously published Barks stories with one new one. It was published in 1981 and all stories were given new coloring and forwards by Barks' himself.

The Rosa one is fantastic also, just not as rare. It tells many of the Scrooge stories that Barks mentioned in passing and compiles them into a "biography" of sorts of Scrooge.

If you go to Amaz*n (not sure if I can spell the whole name here without it deleted) and search for them, you can see a bit more of the differences.

I wish to add to this since I do have the money now



When I've looked around I've seen red leather cover and a blue.. I don;t know if it's actually a purple and the light is catching and showing different shade or if there are two versions.

Anyone know?
