How do I change my screen name as I put my real name and well for obvious reasons don't want that...

You can't change your screen name.

What you can do, is abandon this account, and start a new account with the screen name you want. One note, you must change the email address assigned to this name (you can't have more than one account on any given email). Then, just don't use the old screen name/account and it will drop off the first page and down to oblivion.

I doubt it. It's been this way for years.

We typically do not change screen names. What we recommend doing is giving your current screen names a fake or old email, then create a new screen name with your current email. Any posts you may have made will fall to old pages.
