Anyone know the price of beer at Screen Door General Store? Seen posts about Hess station but without a car how would I get there?:hippie:

Beers are about $5-7/ each. You can walk to the Hess from Boardwalk. It isn't far, just watch out for traffic.

You can easily walk to the Hess station from the Boardwalk. Just go out towards the parking lot, cross the street at the traffic light, make a right after that and you can't miss the station.

This. And up until a few years ago they "discounted" the price to something like $15 bucks for a six pack. Now, that six pack will run you $30+.

The difficulty with the Hess will be if you buy a lot of heavy stuff (like cases of beverages) and then you have to walk it back to the Boardwalk. Maybe bring something with wheels.

I walked up there and got a bunch of 16 oz Diet Cokes for a buck each.

Beers were $2.50 each or $15 for a six-pack at CSR when we were there in December.

Staying at POP in Oct.. My plan is first day taking bus to DTD to get neccessities at Hess. Beer and snacks . Anyone know if there are taxis waiting in that area and about how much it would be back to POP?

I do not believe there will be taxis waiting at the Hess. Taxis wait across the road at DTD (near the PI bus stops). You'd have to lug your beer over there, unless you want to bring a cellphone and call for a taxi.

As I stated earlier and was ignored.....some resorts are now selling 6 packs for $15. You may not need to go to a a Hess to buy beer. I bought beer at the resort last trip and there are reports from other resorts of similar pricing.

$15 for a six pack is very high--especially for the usual domestic choices (Bud, Miller, etc.) Today in my hometown I bought a 12 pack of imported beer for $16 & change. Maybe if you're just getting one six pack it's not so bad, but if your group is large and thirsty , that's going to get expensive really fast.

:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

$15 is extremely cheap for buying at a resort, especially WDW. The year before they wanted $35 for a 6 pack.

If someone is planning on buying a few cases of beer, would it be possible to take a cab from DTD or Boardwalk to one of the respective Hess stations? PP asked if cabs would be waiting at Hess, which I realize they wont be, but I'm wondering if you took the cab from the resort and had them wait at Hess while you make the purchases. Is it so close that a cab driver would be really annoyed or would that be doable?

I'm sure that wouldn't be a problem.

 That's crazy who would pay that much for 6 beers?

Somebody who is stuck at Disney and doesn't have any other option.

I traveled with two smokers last year and can you believe it, they didn't pack a carton with them. They expected to pick up a pack at the resort store each morning.

Every night they trekked from POR on the water taxi to DTD to the Hess Station and paid $11.25 per pack.

Empty out your suitcase and take that.
We have been known to just take our wheeled suitcase over to the Hess station...much easier than lugging back that water in our arms.

The walk over to the Hess station from BW isn't bad at all. Just walk out the front door, down the sidewalk, past the security shack, and cross the street. There can be traffic, so be sure to look..but, you already know to look both ways before crossing a street!! Cross over the back of the station and there you are...takes about 10 mins total, if that.

That's actually the normal price at a WDW resort for beer. Just with in the last 8-10 months some resorts have dropped their price to $15 so people like me will consider that fair enough to not make the journey to the Hess store. :) Also unlike some of you where I'm from in Western Canada $15 is the normal price for 6-pack and I don't smoke but $11 is common place for a pack of smokes here to. But $35 for a 6 is still crazy anywhere!!

Agree with you there, I don't drink that much but do enjoy a beer some evenings :). I guess they haven't dropped the price of the water?
