Hmmm can I make a shirt that says Help me with a downpayment for my house :rotfl2:

If people are stupid enough to do it...

I highly doubt 30,000 people want to give Screech a dime but we'll see. He isn't too bad looking these days...he should have prostituted himself on eBay. He might have better luck.

Sorry, but I guess I don't care that he's doing this. If he can make a buck on it, what's the big deal? After all, he is trying to save his house, supposedly. It's not like he's merely spending it all on useless stuff.

Is it really that pathetic for a star of Saved by the Bell to be selling t-shirts to save his house? As for being pathetic, it's hard to top being the geek on Saved by the Bell, so I guess the "selling t-shirts to save his house" thing doesn't bother me too much in comparison.

Port Washington is just north of where I live, so this was news around here. The local paper had this article about it last week. He sounds even more pathetic in that article. His "argument," if you want to call it that, is that he didn't blow his money on drugs and booze. He's just stupid.

I've know a lot of stupid people, and I'd sooner give the $15 to one of them.

Totally pathetic...but I wouldn't be surprised at all if it works and he even has enough money to get a new set of wheels.

There's a sucker born every minute :)

You are helping him! ;)

Does he really think that sad look on his face will make us want to help him? Really? :rotfl2:

While I agree it is a bit sad, I don't have a problem with it. He is selling a product. I've paid $15 for a t-shirt before. If people want to buy his product, that's fine with me. He makes his living as an entertainer and stand up comic so this will actually help him gain notoriety - increasing his ability to make his living.

Well according to what he said on Howard Stern's show, I don't know how many women would be interested. BIG, BIG, BIG. That's all I have to say. And not in a good way (at least to me).

Anyway, he's an idiot. I wanted to reach through my Sirius receiver and slap him around.

GET A REAL JOB!

I don't even think it's that sad. Child actors usually wind up with only a fraction of what they earned as minors (and that's if their parents don't embezel or make poor investment choices). To ask his fans, who supposedly got years of enjoyment for the show, to help him out by buying a t-shirt isn't really a bad idea. Instead of letting the bank take the house or filing for bankruptcy (like a lot of "normal" people do everyday) he is attempting to do something about his situation. He isn't asking for a handout or a donation, he's selling a product. How would it be differant than him selling a cd recording of his standup routine (like a lot of stand up comics do)?

Yikes, amazing. Another one of those "kid stars" who couldn't cut it in the entertainment business as an adult yet refuses to get a real job. If you were such a success, then we wouldn't be saying "oh that's where you've been all these years... doing stand up comedy". Gotta kinda feel sorry for him.

Man, that Screech sure has sunk to a low level after those heady days when he was part of that sterling ensemble cast on that thought-provoking, well-written show Saved by the Bell.

How could anyone stoop, from being right up there with Olivier, Robert De Niro, Marlon Brando, Tom Hanks, etc. all the way down to hawking t-shirts?

The least he could have done is pull a Different Strokes on us, and become addicted to something/make soft porn movies/die young/do cheesy boxing stunts.

Seriously, what's wrong with the guy making his living as a stand-up comic? It seems he has a lot more positive going on with his life than most former child actors I hear about. Who doesn't hawk a product and try to cash in on their celebrity? Personally, I think this is a fairly unique idea to raise cash. I bet he does get some money out of this. More power to him, IMHO, although I'm not stupid enough to shell out $15 for his shirt.

Except for Mark Paul Goss..(I can't spell his last name), who else from that show has gone on to huge success?

Ok, Elizabeth Berkley. Yes, her career has been full of integrity and great acting.

He should have done what "Skippy" did and audition for Last Comic Standing. :happytv:

Of course "Skippy" didn't get very far. But at least he gave it the good ol' college try.

Tiffani (Amber) Thiessen was on Beverly Hills, 90210 and she directed a short film last year that won awards on the independent film circuit.

And regardless of what you think of their talents--only one is selling t-shirts to stay in the business. The rest are doing just fine.

well- I don't understand what the problem is. dh heard it on howard stern and bought me a shirt b/c he knew I loved the show as a kid. And he just got himself a $30 shirt at a recent concert - what entertainer doesn't sell shirts? how is this different?

And I'm sure each of you, if your mortgage got called in to pay $250,000 immediately, you would be able to pay it off in 30 days, right?

Glass houses, people. Glass houses.

wow....$15 a shirt

his autographed ones are $20.....hmmmm that tells us his autograph is worth a grand total of 5 whole dollars!!!!!

eh...about the same as mine

his idea is more creative than mine if i were him....i would have stood on a street going "hey....remember me...im that guy....listen..i need some help...is $1,000 too much to ask??"

or i would find out if saved by the bell was bill gates/president bush's favorite tv show.....that would be nice!

I have to give him some credit because at least he's trying to help himself, unlike Leif Garrett who is in and out of court ordered rehabs. I won't give him any of my hard earned money but I'm sure that there are plenty others who will. A lot of people like celebrities in this country and nothing sells like a celebrity down on his luck or in trouble. I dread seeing any child star acts because only a few of them become successfull after they hit puberty and the rest of them really hit the skids. At least he's lucky that he has a job unlike some of the others child stars.

Look no further than Gary Coleman for a child star horror story. He used to live in the town of Zion IL, which is next to mine. I recall when he really hit it big in the late 70's and was the toast of Zion. I can remember when he would visit and it made the newspapers and the town would honor him in some fashion. He did the one thing a child star can never do, grow up and become an adult. What can Gary Coleman do to make a living? He's not well and last time I checked he's a security guard making next to nothing. I would hate to be the butt of jokes on the radio and the internet.

His parents really screwed him over and basicly left him broke and went through about 17 million of his money. They were able to get around the "Jackie Coogan law" and blow his earnings. I knew people who were close to the family at one time. To this day there is no mention of Gary Coleman being from Zion and the town took down the sign indicating it was his hometown years ago. He's the one of the few I feel sorry for.

There's a website that helps former child stars and it very interesting.
