Scream Team at YC/BC--EDITED 1/7/08 POST 1

Kristi After the water stop I will go with you if you want to MGM and/or AK and/or finish!! Let me know what you want to do.

angie ;)

Are you guys coming to the POP meet? Perhaps we can map out a strategy... I would be happy to scream wherever I am most needed.. and I was able to hit quite a few locations last year on my own.... also only using WDW transportation. I did MK... Poly... MGM... EPCOT.. Finish... Sooooo .. I am all for being on the move and hitting spots where we are most needed!!

Go Team!!

Kathy

I'm willing to move as needed also!!

I think dh said the stretch from AK to finish looks tough to him!!

(and I hope to pick up on a cowbell Friday lol)

I have 12 cowbells and 28 pom poms. I will bring them with me to POP. I sent Anne a PM and asked if I could Scream Team with her. I think she plans to cover WWOS after everyone passes the Poly. We can all coordinate on Friday night.

I am thinking I will travel. I usually do anyway since I was always following Chad around. We can coordinate on Friday at Pop. Sounds like a plan!

Angie - are you going to be at the Pop meet?

Another great thing about the WISH scream teamers is that we scream for everyone, not just members of the WISH team. After marathon weekend last year, we had several runners tell us how much our shirts inspired them and our cheering inspired them. I look forward to keeping up the WISH team tradition and cheering for every race participant. I think I freak them out when I read their names of the bibs and yell "Go _____". They look at me like who the heck are you? Do I know you? But I keep doing it because I want them to know that I recognize their efforts and want to provide support. This year they will probably be thinking "Who is that crazy woman in the lime green hat and shirt with the cowbells and pom poms yelling at me? I must run faster to get away from her!" :rotfl2:

Also, for those new to scream teaming, here are the things NOT to say:
You're almost there!
Only ___ more miles!
Go faster!
Even my mama could go faster than that!
You call yourself a marathon runner? Pick up the pace slowpoke!

Anyone have any other ones?

Heather--Good call on the don't do's! I wanted to smack all the people who were standing on the side and saying that stuff to me last year!

Say things like:
You're looking great, looking strong, etc
Way to keep up
Cheer for people by name (this is HUGE motivation, at least it was for me)

Just try to be as positive as possible and when in doubt cheer and ring your cowbells!!

Kristi--I think spreading out is an excellent idea. From AK to MGM and from MGM to the Epcot resort area was absolutely awful for me. We'll just have to make sure that we have enough people at each little scream team location. We'll talk Friday night.

Krista

I'm all over that Heather!

is WOOHOO ok?

and Way to Go!! or Keep on Keepin on...

(I'm thinking Hey, at least you're out there, I'm just over on the sidelines scream teamin you - isnt the best thing to say!!)

and dh in his first marathon, really picked up at the end, he didnt know he had friends there cheering him on - - he forgot he had a shirt with his name on it!! So with that in mind, I'll be screamin for them all!!

Does anyone know the sweeping times? I was thinking it would be helpful to know at what times the roads reopen so people can drive. For example I was thinking if I don't cheer at YC/BC and go to the AK instead, that would be really hard coming from WWoS as Osceola Parkway will be closed. The turn around between miles 20 and 21 would be really easy for us volunteering as we'll be right there, but I doubt we can leave our cars just sitting on Osceola. I need to drive and not rely on Disney's transportation because Stephen does not want to wait on a bus to take us back to our resort, so when all is said and done, I have to end up at Epcot.

Kristi, why didn't you suggest this earlier in the week so we had more time to plan. ;)

Because I am a HUGE procrastinator! :rotfl:

Speaking of....someone has a flight to MCO in less than 26 hours & hasn't packed one thing!
Nevermind, packed her kid to go to Grandma's house...

Another great thing about the WISH scream teamers is that we scream for everyone, not just members of the WISH team.
Absolutely! The first year, we ran behind a TnT runner. The TnT peole would go nuts and be dead silent for us. :( They seemed better last year. I can't imagine WISHers ever doing that, but I'd hate to think of anyone thinking of us that way.

BTW - ALl of you are awesome for thinking of us liek this!

Another potential scream team location - although my memory is a little fuzzy about pretty much everything after AK last year, it seems that the bridges before entering Epcot were killers, or maybe they were after entering Epcot...I don't know I am having a little bit of a brain freeze, but I remember mumbling under my breath, and thinking unkind thoughts about the WDW designers who put them there.

It doesn't matter where/when any and all cheering is GREATLY appreciated! It is hard to explain to someone who hasn't experienced it how much the cheers can pick you up and give you a burst of energy; and if the cheering is from WISHers (even those I haven't met, or were so out of it that I didn't recognize) it adds even more.

So thank you in advance to all Scream Teamers, it really does make a difference!

OMG those hills.... I remember those &*(^!&*# hills!! :lmao: I think they are right after you enter EPCOT. I want to say towards France?! I remember thinking plenty of unkind thoughts myself as I made my way up those!!

Dana

Okay, I am giving myself a headache. I have been staring at park maps for the past 2 hours trying to figure out how to get over to AK from WWoS and I just don't see how to do it. For that matter, I don't see how we can get over there from anywhere on property. The only way to get over there is by using Osceola Parkway, which will be closed. What am I missing???? :headache::headache: :headache: :headache: :headache:

Krista

Judy you know we'd love to have you at the finish too ;) I'm sure you'll beat my DH who will be traveling from MGM to the finish.

Hey did the W section have a tent last year or was I 'not' seeing things? I don't recall a W tent for the half. I hope there is some shade for those waiting at the W area.

It would fall unter t through Z or something liek that.

Kristi Yes I will be at POP Friday, right at 4:30 because we have AT dinner at 6:00.
Krista Isn't only one side closed because last year we "accidently"
went that way and we were driving on one side of the road and the runners were on the other side of the road. But was it closed one way:confused3
I can't remember. WOW what can we do?????

Gotta do some work I will look at the map too.

By the way, I posted on the weekly thread, I have 11 cowbells for the taking!!!

angie

Angie--I ran it last year and I can't remember. It must have been so bad that I blocked the entire marathon out!!! :rotfl: :rotfl:

I know that part of Osceola dr is open, as I used teh beses for shade last year. It has to be closed by teh intersection west of WWos, though because I can't imagine there were cars on teh out adn back.
